Fakes are ridiculously rampant on 拼多多. Click on 1 such listings and the system will non stop recommended you a whole bunch of other such listings.

But then i think even for fakes there are different levels of quality. Some you see you know(PRC call them 一眼假) but some of them are so close to the real thing its not possible to discern the difference simply by looking.

During my stadium runs will regularly see few groups of teens(probably secondary school at best) doing sprint training in their fancy schmancy track spike shoes. Honestly, sometimes i wonder if its even good for them to be wearing track spikes at their age.
other than track athletes, school runners are probably the largest consumers of track spikes.
ironically teens and young adults have the best feets... ie not spoiled/degraded by all the max stack cushioning shoes. they still have the best running natural cushioning system we are born with. And their body weight have not outgrown what their body can deal with.

it is the adults with years of sedentary lifestyle or pampered by those max stack cushion shoes that can no longer run in spikes. heck... forget spike, few can run beyond 10k with race flats.

Searching through PRC social media the past few days, been seeing quite a few reviews for the new Anta Zone2 90 which is supposedly their release to rival EVO SL. Priced around 500+rmb on TB, higher than the xiaonian which for most folks is the current benchmark for price/performance ratio.
naturally an established brand will price higher than a newly startup who is trying to get everyone's attention

面子 very impt in CN. So sure got demand. Esp so that there is a bigger % (not in tier 1/2 cities of coz) who are not so well to do. Those expensive western branded bikes and accessories lagi a status symbol.....the more expensive the better.

Maybe it's like the same as SG chinese here but 5-10X magnified.

Even for local, I ever came across several times in shops like ASICS / Running Lab etc the parents buying top-tier race shoes for their sec kids, most prob is for X-country 4.8km. The parents / kids none the wiser but they just know them brands and maybe a few models here and there. Must be best foam and carbon etc. But of coz over here not many chinese stores until like this year proper.
agree with you on 面子 issue. those who can afford it, have no hesitation to pay top bucks. ultimately what is RMB2k to their wealth.
what i was referring to is that the general standards of Chinese running shoes are relatively high now and with the help of social media, most high school kids know what they want+need (for their fitness tests) and they (incl. their parents) can easily get a good pair within RMB500. The more knowledgeable ones will snag good quality deals below RMB350.

if you are into sprints, spikes have significant impact.
1) much better grip
2) closer to ground with faster push off
3) much lighter
do note, track runners usually don't use the heel and run largely with their forefoot only.

from my limited experience with spikes. spikes also divided into sprint or distance. distance is for 800m upwards and has more cushioning, sprint spikes are a different matter. I see I also scared:ROFLMAO:
have only run in distance spikes and they have a bit more cushioning. you are up on your forefoot but your heel will also "kiss" the ground during the gait cycle.
first few runs takes getting used to and for body to adapt. Can definitely feel in calves, achilles and plantar fascia

These are too cheap to be real. We have to stick to flagship stores for peace of mind.

PDD, there are some labels they use to say these are 'verified' genuine. Of course this is at most just an assurance, not a guarantee, the risk of fake is not eliminated. I bought my QD Strong wind 3TR and LI ING red hare 8 pro via PDD from sellers with these logo. I think they are genuine, by weighing them. If they use super critical foam, then they have to be as light as the reviewers measure. Coz fake will use cheaper and heavier non super critical EVA foam. The youtuber "HUI" wears one size smaller then mine, at EU45, so I can get a rough estimation from his review how my 46 should weigh.

But then there are flats with micro lugs and the Nike Streakfly 2 series still retain their popular waffle design outsole for tracks. I once had the ASICS Sortie magic RP2 (micros lugs) before and currently the streakfly 2. I think they suit well for us road runners who occasionally do tracks.
In future will have to look for china brand.

Not really sure about running. But for my kid, i know his recovery ability is really fast. Sometimes after long distance cycling, i feel fatigue, he feels tired as well. Then evening time or even the next day (eg Sunday) i still fatigue and so my pace for long distance need to slow down to around 26-28kmh if not i really feel that i could injure myself or my muscles or something (or possibly so fatigued by the end of everything that the recovery stage after that is very long and hence unproductive). He still tells me he feels good and fresh and can go another round.
hah....

Tongiht if i ride to Sentosa or MBS, i dont think i can get out that easily, be it by pavement and/or road.

Leave till tomorrow morning 6am go ride MBS area and see all the drunkards lying on the floor (usually of South Asian descent). Or those teenager groups who just choose to stay overnight coz trying to get out really is waste time. 🤣 Coz impossible to clear everyone by MRT after midnight.

Then by 7am can see many more people running for the new year and setting so-called new year running resolutions.

quite correct. but even for distance running from 800m onwards, runners use forefoot to run most of the time. Those who are not well trained or getting tired will inevitably have heel contact. In general, those who use forefoot only usually have shorter contact time.

Happy new year 2026 .

Did a long run just now after checking wed 4d result! Wanted to do a 30km but in the end. Only 27km. But at least it was 1km more than my previous 26km done 2 weeks ago. I believe I didnt eat enough before that and also didn't consume any gel during the run. Just depend on plain water at 11km, 21km and 25km.

Despite out of 6 weeks due to injury . I still managed to clock almost 1500km in 2025. More than what I ran in 2024. I hope this year I can hit 2000km. Stay injury free and do a full marathon.
