Literally all liquids. 115g/hr
Just 1 caffienated gel (100mg)

Breakfast only 2 pcs of bread + honey. Approx 50g of carbs for breakfast nia....just enough to top off the approx 70-80% glycogen empty liver overnight. (muscle stores would still be rather full)

First 5km hoot nutrition already.

If i am not wrong (havent go verified, just read about it), Kejelcha missed his last nutrition feed, and just 2 -3 mins after that he got dropped liao.

The Maurten research team was embedded with Sawe’s team in Kenya for 32 days across six trips between last and this April. They were training his gut to absorb that load by mimicking race-day protocol in training. The hydrogel technology they have developed over the past 10 years now allows athletes to absorb 90–120 grams of carbs per hour without GI distress. In addition to that, sodium bicarbonate is also used, essentially a blood buffer since it neutralizes the lactic acid buildup that causes the burning sensation in muscles during high-intensity effort. Sawe used both of Maurten’s products for it on race day. Taking the bicarb early is deliberate since it peaks in the bloodstream roughly 60–90 minutes after ingestion, so the timing of 2+ hours before the race would put peak buffering capacity right at the start.

Sawe told the media in the press conference that he had two pieces of bread and tea with honey as his breakfast before the race.

You can see the complete fueling protocol in the image.

Just did some calcu.......

Last 2.2k in 5:51 mins.

That means, after running 39.8km, he still could go straight into our Pocari Sweat and beat all our open cat boys at 2.4k and set "NR". (Sawe 2.4k in 6:24, after a 39.8km warm up:o)

In fact, he would be neck to neck with our women's 800m national record pace, just that he would have sustained nearly 3X of that 800m distance.

1. Certified and properly measured
2. Race atmosphere is a completely different story from normal running

Exactly

I just ran JP Morgan weeks ago .

Although the distance is just 5.6km. the feeling and the mood were much difference when I ran alone at the 6km in the park or stadium. The time round. I was in the front pen because I put my estimated completed timing at 27 mins .

Immediately after the gun . There were no a single runner blocking my way ..last time I always bo chap and ended in the middle of pen . ended up exhausted half way due to many zig zag running for overtaking slower runner...I completed the JP Morgan run 5.6km in 27min 40sec.

Just Signed up the full marathon for BYD. final price $187.20 with early bird discount. The price included the baggage charge of $18. They don't recognized the 300km club anymore. sigh. CC payment didn;t go thru, so I used PAynow. Price increase is very significant from last year, $138, includes the $18 baggage.

This is one reason why I don't sign up for 2XU or Garmin runs,. If there is one expensive run for me, BYD SIM it si. Then it's only one other cheap race, which is likely the income eco run.
Same here. Bite the bullet and went for the full. Last full marathon in about 13 years.
Due to the crazy price increase, I think that the full marathon is the most 'worth it' distance. Imagine paying 100 bucks.. for a 5km run?? or 130bucks for 10km run ll
