Actually can we imagine for 1 second, that if there was no Sebastian Sawe around, then Keljecha would be the sole WR holder for both full marathon and half marathon, and the only 1 man around the world over the whole history of mankind to have ran a sub-2 marathon?

The rest of this year's marathon will be interesting.

Keljecha ran his 1st marathon and went under 2 hours which was unthinkable. I got a feeling he is the one that going to snatch the world record for the full marathon from sawe.

Bro was so fast that his slowest pace in the HM still gave him a 2.4 timing of 6 mins 34 sec.

His fastest 5k split pace would yield him a 2.4km split of 6 min 24 sec.

ps. NR for a Singaporean is by Shaun, at 6:47.01
Fastest ever went at Pocari Sweat 2.4 (on a track and electronically timed + photo finish) was 6:47.002 by Subas Gunung.
Both gotten this year 2026 just 1 week ago.

Bro's last 1.097km from 20km to finish line pace was also faster than our women's 800m NR , with an equivalent 800m timing of 2:02, at a pace of 2:33 min/km.

2:07.79 Goh Chui Ling
2:07.4 Chee Swee Lee

Keljecha was just 2 seconds slower than our 1km men's national record at his last 1km pace of 2:33 min/km.

1000 m2:31.05Jayden Tan

Oh, Keljecha's fastest 5km split's pace of 2:40 min/km is on par with Shaun Goh's 1 mile PB pace (4:18.6 timing).....to give you an idea on the paces involved.

Elevation gain 400+m. If I can survive this, BYD marathon should be chicken feet right? Hahaha

Sometimes, how the total elevation spread out matter alot. If they are spread out evenly, localised gain won't be alot, you only built lactate for a very short time, and then you recover, a strong aerobic system will clear the lactate easier. But if the gain concetrate at one location like our sheares bridge, the lactate built up continuously for a much longer time, if aerobic no good with poor lactate clearing, proably would not recover from this. I mean after this, the steady state pace will decouple badly.

But this Malaysia marathon is a killer at 18km. from 50m climb to175m.

He once held the indoor record for mile ages ago so he has speed/track background too.

in 2019, 7 years ago. He looked so young. If don't want to look old, stick to short distance. Like mile race. Endurance running, HM and above, sure look old.

Some " scientist" claimed it is the prolonged period of exercise outdoor under the sun that caused the those long distance runners look older .

Regarding aging faster than one shd be, some factors explained here.

Like training blindly without adaptation emphasis and recovery emphasis and calibrated to age and what your body needs , hornones like cortisol, sleep deprivation etc (and the ungodly hours that vast majority of group rides start before 6.30am, and even for 6.30 rides we are STILL talking about 5.15-5.30am wakeup time as you'd also need to cycle to meetup point).

Actually, i think what happened to my past 6 months visible improvement to my 3k, 5k, a large part is due to even more quality sleep which i also track with my smart watch now as feedback, and how i shifted literally all my sessions from nearly 100% nights to nearly 100% mornings (but not super early mornings). And also implementing even stricter and disciplined sleep routines. And of coz got other things as well, like increasing creatine from 3-5g to just under 10g but such things i think very small effect and more of supporting role (more for the brain and to blunt any potential sleep deprivation, coz in reality getting enough + good sleep is not easy.

It's a feedback loop, you recover better, and then you can subsequently train better esp finishing your workouts better and implementing say 4 x 10 mins LT2 and finishing strong, instead of tapping out at 3 x 10 mins and last rep like do-for-the-sake-of-doing one and then you realised a bit of it is in zone 2/3 (but "feels" closer to threshold effort) and just induces more fatgue debt. Aim to accumulate hours sustainably without adding significant recovery debt.

And this is not only for running, but also for cycling........and actually the clearest way to tell is with my calisthenic exercises, coz you literally get weekly "feedback" via how you feel during the set + number of reps etc. Pretty qualitative one + fast weekly or every 2 weeks, you really can see the improvements even if it is stair-stepped type.

In fact, chronic lack of sleep, like just doing 2-4 hrs per night chronically, is associated with cancer. Though 100% anedotal, we suspect that is what has happened to my mum. The specialist said it's possible as one big factor though we'll never know.

My fellow group folks suan me when i mentioned 6am to 6.30am group rides a bit difficult to me coz too early.......and i can only smile when they told me they waking up 3-4am is a norm for many cyclists.
I mean, not that you cannot wake up at 4am to prep for running or cycling, but then you gotta make sure you start to go to bed at 8-8.30pm and so fall asleep 30 mins later (if that is even possible at all)

From a health and performance pov, not really healthy IMO, even if you are full retired. (imagine holding a day job and doing that during weekdays, is crazy)

Think I take this over the QD Lei Li2.0 or GT. The mid sole of QD Leili too thick liao.
world of caution. I saw the mid sole has vertical holes in them like XN. Saw in one of the reviews forgot which one. So the possibility of ponding in our weather is significant. Need local beta testers to review and provide feedback.

When I was watching live, Shaun kicked very early, Subas kicked later and out finished him haha

The 5th runner (Pranav) in the beginning said the first 4 all siao one.....comfortably sub 70s pace (65-66s).
That's like my max sprint 400 PB pace,

Not sure if one of them unofficial/part-time pacer.

Guess Subas and Shaun just wanted to run tactically and followed suit.

Beating a dead horse, but worth reposting.....

Good for cycling too (that one can just do a straighter version to hit more gastrocs).

If you push with both hands and you are relatively strong, can easily give you 30kgf. More or less enough.

I ever asked my kid (65kg) to climb onto me so i dont need to use my hands, that one at the moment a bit too much for me. 🤭 😅
Also currently i think is sufficient strength, so just maintaining no reason to go to 60-65kg.

Add plyo (pogos / drops) for more sauce.

According to Soh, some of the first few were there as pacers.

Yeah this race need to strategise properly. Definitely can’t hit my A goal for this race but hope can PB at least.
