JB veterans - can I ask what do you guys do for data roaming plans in JB ? At the moment, I'm on singtel and simply sign up to the neighbouring countries roaming plan - $5 for 1G only though it's available for 30 days. If I use my social media throughout the trip, it won't last for the day so feels a bit restrictive.
I'm on an apple phone so don't have dual simcard function and I try to avoid changing simcard as it always messes up my contacts. Just curious what do the rest of you do for all your frequent JB trips ?
edit: Just realised I do have dual simcard function on my iphone12 !!!! lol
My iPhones are all Hong Kong version with dual physical SIM slots, except an iPhone 11Pro that I bought to test out using eSIM.
For Malaysia I've been using DiGi also Celcom Prepaid until recent years when I switched to primarily Hotlink Prepaid, though I still keep the other older cards in case of network interruption.
Tried out Simba but their local network doesn't work for me, so I'm not willing to pay even more for their more than 1GB roaming data. Have in recent months been also using M1 Maxx $12 giving 2GB and Eight (Starhub) $8 giving 8GB for me to use in Malaysia, then Indonesia and Thailand if need to, and also a few other countries. But all in all, I should say I'd mainly use my MY cards to roam in those other countries, if I don't buy their local SIM cards.
Most of the eateries and malls have free WiFi.
I try not to be on my phone so much when I'm enjoying overseas.
There are fellow members here waiting for updates, reviews, and such! And I love making payments right from the phone.
Thanks. You are making me discover SIMBA now... I've been too comfortable with Singtel all these years.
They combo sim only plans of local data + international roaming sounds almost too good to be true... is it really what it says it is ? Why am I still paying singtel like $50+ every month for 100GB and nothing else !
Many are still with Singtel coz they're too comfortable. Like nothing's broken that needs fixing. Until they encounter network issue or discover they've been paying too much these days.
I still have my old Singtel line, but I won't pay them more than $30 monthly. That's also because I'm still on their fiber broadband and lazy to switch.
