Did you ask SMF why are their modules so intensive? Are they trying to match the pace of the graduation ceremony (so you can graduate earlier) or is it due to lecturers' availability?

The rationale was due to the availability of the australian lecturers. They flew over for a period in time. Hence the lecture was only done with them in Singapore.

Graduated 3 yrs plus ago. Put it bluntly, this degree do not do you wonders. Known 5 frens who has graduated together with me. All of us in different routes and different pace in life. So what this does is just open a path for you in accounting. If you are expecting to have a big paycheck after this degree, please seek somewhere else.

murdoch university

location wise I believe Kaplan is much better since it is in the city area. SMF still requires shutter buses from MRT.

faculty wise, whilst it is always good to have on campus faculty flown in to teach.. all compressed into 3 weeks might be too intense especially if you are working.

You might consider other popular programs such as RMIT from SIM since SIM offers the best infrastructure and support.

Might wish to hold your horses, in education reputation is everything. if u have signed up but not started, you could request for a refund. invest in a good university with a good reputation. Murdoch investigation is going to take awhile and negative news will keep surfacing, will not look good on you or to your future employer. just my humble opinion.

• if you insist of Australia education, you might wish to consider Curtin university or RMIT University.
  
• Edith Cowan University used to offer their programmes with SMF but has since pulled out from SMF as well.

The remarks were emailed to 43 professors at the Perth-based institution by David Flanagan, the chancellor, on 13 November. They highlight the internal crisis into which the institution has been plunged amid an investigation that has seen its vice-chancellor resign and his deputy facing allegations of misconduct.

Richard Higgott, a former pro vice-chancellor for research at the University of Warwick, announced his retirement last month after three years at the helm at Murdoch. He was previously suspended on full pay after being reported by the university to Western Australia’s Corruption and Crime Commission.

The charges against him have never been revealed but The Australian newspaper has reported that among the allegations that were investigated were credit card misuse, bullying and a lack of transparency in appointments.

Earlier this month, the university also confirmed that Professor Higgott’s deputy, provost Ann Capling, whom he appointed in 2010, was the subject of a disciplinary investigation over unspecified allegations arising out of the wider inquiry.

It said she was “absent from the university at her request” in order to prepare her response to the allegations. It also suggested that other senior staff were being investigated.

If you are considering Australia University. RMIT will be a safer bet.

• For diploma holders looking for Top up degrees, there are at least a handful more safe choices such as University of London, UOL Royal Holloway or Kingston University London. All accredited and well ranked.

What is Kaplan and SMF Part-Time IT Degree timetable like. Is it 2 days a week 7pm to 10pm, are there classes on weekends?

Hi superman,

Not very sure about the IT degrees since I was from Communication, but the part-time degrees are from weekdays 7pm-10pm. How many lessons a week depends on your module load, i.e. 1 lesson a week for each module.

I didn't have any lessons on weekends but that depends on different courses.

They as in the university or the partner institutions? The university will definitely NOT be closing down, and it seems unlikely for Kaplan and SMF to drop the Murdoch programmes at the moment. These are just my opinion though.

SMF closes down Murdoch and ECU programmes

SMF has already closed down the murdoch programmes, they no longer offer any jan intake

the dean of the business school in perth might have already left.

it's a huge risk for an investment of time and huge sum of money.

No point taking the risks , there are many other schools that offer psychology, business and accounting degrees out there.

Murdoch University appoints new vice chancellor after corruption probe sparked Higgott's resignation


Mr Higgott was one of at least five senior staff investigated by the Corruption and Crime Commission (CCC). The university senate referred Mr Higgott for investigation for suspected misconduct last year.

Mr Higgott was initially suspended on full pay once the allegations came to light, but resigned shortly after, saying he wished to pursue a writing program. The CCC has been contacted to ascertain if that investigation is ongoing...Mr Flanagan said the CCC's investigation did not indicate a systemic problem at Murdoch, but would not comment on whether any other staff had resigned or been stood down in its wake, as the matter was still before the commission.
