If have friends in revenue management it's the best. Can check load and even possibly clear your waitlists. Not sure if they need to put up any justification why Passenger A > Passenger B but I'm sure this system has been used for many years.

Can waitlist for multiple flights to have better chance of getting a seat

yes been doing that but never cleared.

apparently one of my friend could get redemption seat even if on the website is waitlist. but he would get last minute, when seats are not sold. so i thought there must be a way for it. maybe he is a gold or pps club member.
