I saw 136k miles + $83.10 tax for PE SG-LAX round trip.

Wdym?

Ok. As i mentioned that i have saved up the miles for years. So throughout this years, i hearsay alot too. I heard that there are option to pay by miles for part of the ticket (i.e 50% of the ticket). So how does all this work?

Do take note that the partial way would make ur miles alot lesser than its actual worth and is usually not advised unless it is a very small amount

Hi all,

The more I read about miles redemption, the more I get confused. I have been saving up miles for years using citibank premiermiles card. I have about 186k inside that card now. My plan is to use miles to offset my airticket fees to LA, USA round trip, premium economy for myself, my wife and my son. Quite often I see good deal from SIA which get me wondering my plan to save up miles instead of cashback credit card worth it.

So to cut the whole story short, I would like to plan for my US trip next year around Sept. I check the ticket is about 1.3k per person for premium economy. I wonder how I can best use my miles for my scenario? Note that my work doesn't allow me to get spontaneous leaves, so SIA escape spontaneous is quite out of question.

an alternative suggestion for the use of your 186k miles is to redeem 3 return business saver tickets to Taipei on SQ, SQ's 787-10 business class is a nice product, will set you back 183k miles + $224.10 in taxes. The cash value of these 3 cheapest SQ business return tickets to Taipei is almost $6,000.

2 business class tickets to Japan are worth $8k plus for approximately the same range of miles. Not worth to redeem to infant / child.

first of all, apples to apples comparison please, SQ business lite return for 2 to Tokyo will only cost $5k. second of all, it seems impolite to suggest to someone to travel without their child, when their original intention was to travel with the child.

Hello? That's what you said, not what I implied.

It's cheaper to buy an infant (10% of full fare) or child (75%) ticket as compared. Duh.

If u just pay all in cash for your E+ tic $1330.10

If u choose mix miles + cash then with about 18k miles redeemed still need pay $1146.23

In other words 18k miles worth $184?

The ans is NO

Also E+ use the same toilets as E class, not worth paying cash for it.

Not related to your argument, but I just paid $860 to SQ to add my new baby boy to upcoming SIN-NRT return redemption ticket :(

Moral of the story travel lots and use all your miles before starting a family lol.

F. J should be around s$300-s$500? I know that they charge you 10% of the adult cash fare, but not sure which fare class (i.e. do they always charge J flexi fare, or do they charge you lowest available fare class like saver).

Infant ticket is 10% of full published fare.
