The system cancels your reservations, not your ticket. When your reservation is cancelled, your ticket is still exisiting. Make a new reservation for your ticket, subject to seats availability.

I'm confused. A spontaneous award redemption isn't a ticket as such is it - doesn't it have to be tied to a specific flight and no changes allowed? If the system auto cancels it because I also have a normal non spontaneous award redemption on the same flight what happens to it?

A reservation/booking is not a ticket.

A flight reservation isn't confirmed until it is ticketed.

In other words, there is a ticket issued and there is a ticket number.

A reservation PNR is made up of 5 alphanumeric. A ticket consists of 13 digits. SQ ticket number starts with 618.

Jialat. Wonder can I accumulate enough in 2-3 years time for 3 tickets a not.
My wife has around 100k.
I have 50k.
Hoping to accumulate 3 tickets (2 adult and a 9-10 year old child)

Otherwise was thinking if just enough to accumulate for 2 adults and then spend the money buy 1 biz for my child.

Buying miles thru tax payment may be cheaper than a revenue flight. Alternative can buy directly from alaska miles to redeem on SQ, but check the flight availability first. Also chance to earn 4mpd for the miles purchase.

Planning to redeem miles fly to SFO in econ class, but flight from SIN to SFO always on waitlist. Is it advisable to buy the 1st leg tickets and redeem the miles for return leg? I would think is like buying 1 way ticket so will cost more

In the first place, redeeming economy really super bohua, but I guess if your miles earn rate is really slow and on the verge of expiring then some value is better than none.

For miles redemption, one way vs return no difference (ie return redemption is always the same miles as 2x one ways). But for paid ticket there normally is a HUGE difference: One ways tend to be only priced at full flexi fare.

Yeah nowadays seldom travel after change job.

Got a batch of miles expiring in 3-4 mths, so thinking of buy 1 way ticket from SIN to SFO (cost $1.3k cheapest), then return trip redeem off the expiring miles.

Just not sure worth it or not

Well, if your miles are expiring anyway, then it is "worth it" to get at least some value, no?

e.g. if your paid return ticket is $1.6k then you still got around $300 value for your miles, which is still better than zero.

Anyway for me, my earn rate also not that high so my previous trips have all been Biz / First one way redemption, then come back using budget airline lol.

Alternative would be to redeem biz class return tickets to a "transit point" like tokyo then book a tokyo to usa seprately. Maybe able to get a cheaper round trip + less time spent on economy class. Although u would have a additional stopover.

Checking in advance, all the redemption miles so high for both way..
But if change to one way, there possibility to get normal rates..
Example PEK one way 39k, if round trip 79k

Return on SQ Biz class is 78k miles. Where you get 79k miles?

Return is one way + one way. If the amount of miles for return is the same for one way, then who will redeem one way?

Those whose earn rate quite slow, I suggest you to switch to Asia miles instead. Starting Jan, Asia miles do not expire as long as there's credit or debit activity, your miles will keep extending for 18 months. Just use rebate mango to earn Asia miles or convert cc points or redeem cold storage voucher every year to create activities.

Asia miles also do not devalue as often as krisflyer, and using their one world multi carrier award chart is damn song

The roundtheworld is great value. Only thing is sq feels more premium. Asiamiles probably alot more needing transit flights

Thanks for the reply. I tried for a few dates for 4 pax and system keep putting me on waitlist but i got no problem if i put 2 person. So i thought i cannot redeem 4 pax at one go.

It is definitely possible to redeem for 4 business saver award tickets, perhaps you are picking a popular route, and your chances will be further reduced if you are looking at a date that is either popular (e.g. school holidays, weekends, etc), or not too far into the future. Which destination are you looking at?

I choose from Singapore to Narita and is next year June. You are right, the date fall within school holidays.

If Japan is the destination of choice, you can consider trying for Fukuoka/Nagoya/Osaka. These may be in less demand than Tokyo, just try to avoid flights on A330 and B777-200/300, as these have the much older less desirable regional business class seats.
