Hi,

Heard from the JB thread that there's many durian stalls in KSL. Does anyone know how much?

cheaper than Singapore's durians?

they usually set up stalls at basement
but season shld be over liao
one of them is Neo's Durian (check facebook)
depend on season, somewhat cheaper than SG but still think SG is better quality
else, wait for season, then several stalls selling at pasar malam on Mon nite ... those r much cheaper. be mindful though, at least 3 stalls dishonest, trying to pass thai breed as MSW ! i know who they are .. usually shout loudest ones

I went in last Saturday, saw zero durians. It was raining heavily in the afternoon.

Bought samsung chargers in Holiday Plaza ground floor near KFC entrance, very cheap RM15 & RM20 each.

Beware, there are lots of fake stuff in JB. I once asked a friend to buy Nokia battery at CS. They charged RM60 and gave my friend a used one and pass it off as NEW. My friend's wife spotted something wrong on the label. Then they pretend and gave excuse. A new one cost much higher. In fact, the RM60 was already higher than SG at that time.

Same friend's nephew came and live with him from Malaysia told him to avoid buying HP stuff from MY as many are not real stuff, worse, some high end hp send for repair, parts kana swopped.

Take note due to drought at most durian producing states in Malaysia, there might be shortages and increase in prices. Thai durians prices should still remain unchanged.

The recent Malaysia travel fair had ksl hotel giving $99 a night promo.

I'm told that dry conditions have a positive effect on the taste of durians. :s12:

Perhaps, you didn't realise that the dry spell has also dried up most water storage? Due to this current dry season, even durian tree can't take it due to lack of water as reported.

I just eat a pack yesterday at Aeon Tebrau. Seller was telling me that MSW will only be out sometime in June. Current lot not to my liking. Anyway, I bought a box, the so call best they have, RM33.. true enough... so so like he said. bit of here and there. May be expensive, but I am a regular there for MSW or XO during Dec period. Tried several roadside stalls telling me all sorts of BEST... Even from Johor Jaya Sunday market, MSW wasn't that good as in Aeon even though cheaper. rather not waste time walking around hunting. Anyway, the seller knows what I want and don't really want to sell me unless I insist.

any good recommendations in this mall? going to check it out next month.

I always drink coffee at Kopi Cawanmas. Their coffee is thick & strong. Perfect as Coffee-si. Order the Large, good value. Food-wise, so so only. Free wifi.

Tea time, Old Town Coffee has some incredibly cheap set meal, coffee + nasi lemak/bee hoon for only RM$5.9 ??

sign up for free MBO cinema membership. get 2 free tickets on birthday month

penang laksa - strong smell permeates the basement. quite good for some, deadly for others

.......

Actually the nasi lamak is ...to me, pathetically small portion (eaten at CS branch). I think I can get a similar one at 7-11 or Tersco for RM1.39 (used to be RM1). Of course, given the place, you are paying for it. But still no too bad for the food

I think I know what you are referring too. Its a twin coffee shop on the left of KSL entrance along the roll of shop houses. I ate there twin. 1st time, was good,. but later on another occasion, find the standard has dropped. Not sure it is because of me or what. The price has also gone up.

1st time being to KSL many years back, ate curry noodle with drinks for breakfast at KSL restaurant for 2 person. pay RM24. Then went outside to eat at this roast stuff coffee shop, 2 double boil soup, 2 drinks, roast pork, cha siew and duck (I think there was a veg) and pay RM28++. Guess how we react? stupid to eat inside KSL for just curry noodle and was so-so. That's why we went out to eat instead
