Lasik eye Surgery

Did my Lasik at Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC) last month. Just a short review for others considering abt doing the Ops.

I did my Lasik with Dr Rosman (90% of patient in SNEC did their lasik with this doctor - he is the head consultant). The place feels more like a high class private clinic than a public hospital.

Had my pre-Op evaluation on 26 Oct and was scheduled within 2 weeks for the Ops. Quite lucky that my pre-Op evaluation turn out good and i am eligible for the Lasik Bladeless (most common procedure).

The actual Ops was painless (the nurse will put numbing eye drop before the Ops) and the doctor was v reassuring. I was able to see pretty clearly right after the Ops. In the next few hours, there is this "onion in the eyes" feeling becos the effect of the numbing eye drop had gone out. But after that everything back to normal and 90% of vision is back. Recovery for next few weeks were good just a little bit of dry eyes.

My total cost till date is $4050 inclusive of pre-Ops evaluation, Lasik Ops, Check up 1-day after Ops, Check up 1-week after Ops and Check up 1-month after Ops inclusive of all the medication required. (Excludes a final check up 3-months after Ops which should be ard $150).

MCs were given for every appointment including pre-Ops evaluation and all check ups so you do not have to waste ur leaves to do the Ops.

The staff were attentive and professional in explaining the Ops Procedure and costs involved.

Overall v pleasant experience.

May I know if you are a subsidised or unsubsidised patient? Also, what is the mode of payment available?

1. I am 40+ and recently getting Lao hua sinking in. Very irritating and thinking of doing LASIK to solve both long sighted and short sighted. Should I do it?
2. Which clinic can do on the same day as the consultation day?
3. Am looking at either eagle eye or shinagawa. Which one is more expensive and which one better? Any recommended doctor?
4. Which place the machines are newer?
5. Anyone got referral discount?

1. just settle the lao hua. after lao hua op, all should be fine

I was recommended by a gym buddy to see Dr Lynn Yeo for refractive surgery based on his experience with eye doctors. I also checked with my optometrist at Eye Place (who I have seen since 2004), of what she thought of Doctor Lynn Yeo. She also gave her the thumbs up.
I proceeded to book a consult at Eagle Eye Novena office with Dr Lyn Yeo. The team there are a highly efficient unit. The eye assessment comes back instantly and immediately assessed by Dr Lynn Yeo. She gave me the low down and proposed me as a candidate for LASIK or ICL (implantable contact lens). As I wanted to also see another surgeon to double check I decided to ask her for all my results and she happily agreed. My other eye assessment was with a famous celebrity Ophthalmologist. He also made the same conclusion that I could do either ICL or LASIK.
Results for the eye degree tests between the two companies were a little different. During my discussion with both companies, it was clear that Eagle Eye was more professional (thanks Ivan Tan for your patience with discussing results to determine the final outcomes for the eye). Mind you if I had gone with the other company, results may be the same, but they just didn’t have the time or patience explaining. I decided to go with Eagle Eye and I promptly paid deposit and waited for the ICL Lens which came within four days.
The surgery experience was a breeze in the park. In fact, the hardest part of the surgery is trying to get to sleep the night before, as one ponders worst case scenarios. With Dr Lynn Yeo’s cool and two experienced nurses, the real operation literally took like 2 mins and painless. You just look up and in goes the lens. Most of the time was spent cleaning and taping eye lids down. Highly commend Dr Lynn Yeo and her Eagle Eye team . Also if you were like me who spent a lot of time researching medical publications and consulted with three ophthalmologists to review LASIK vs ICL, defiantly go down the ICL option. No downtime, no dry eyes, no halos… reversible if need be… what more do you want.
BTW the other bro who said that cost is an issue. Please do consider the type of machine being used. They are not all the same. Some may use older machane and hence get halos. Hence why i reckon ICL is better to save up for.

bro, mind sharing your myopia and astigmatism degree? and breakdown of cost for ICL at eagle eye center? considering doing ICL cause i have v high myopia and astigmatism - not sure if ICL can give me 20/20 vision.

also since ICL is implanting a thin lens, can you feel its presence or does it move around when you do sports like jogging?

No leh I was alone .. yes now resting at home.

Actually vision is quite ok now but wouldn’t say perfect yet. Have those contact lens feeling for now (technically still wearing the protective lens).

The whole process was smooth and not as scary as I had thought.

I had book a slot for my lasik in September, but I’m afraid that I might not be able to do lasik as I have quite dry eyes.

I was a -8.0 and had minor astig of -0.25 which they didn't treat. They do have lens for astig too. Go get assessed for which I remember was $300. Take the afternoon off as you can not see clearly afterwards. Also if you wear contact lens, take them off at least a week. Was approx 7k+. It sits inside the eye so it doesn't move. I regularly jog and don't feel anything. Vision is super clear now, even when compared to contact lens.
