Lasik eye Surgery

Wah... after reading few previous pages... didnt know now lasik got so many new technology and doesnt sound better that the oldest tech.

i did my lasik 10 years ago, with the oldest flap cut and burning cornea...
Instant perfect eyes sight after surgery although need half a day eyes shut for post surgery recovery.
3 days initial recovery intensive care and super sensitive to light, i slept it through (fri, sat, sun) monday back to work.
2 weeks sensitive to light and eyes dryness
2 months eyes dryness
10 years perfect eye sight

After two weeks, you should try to exercise your eyes more for focus.
Simple exercise as such... focus on near object 1 mins, look far object 1 mins... rest...
eye balls exercises... move eye balls only... look down, up, down, up, left, right, left, right,(diagonal) upper left, lower right, upper left, lower right, upper right, lower left, upper right, lower left. Full rotation then rest.
do this everytime you feel your eyes unfocus or tired.

eyes dryness usually will goes away after half a year.

Aiks I just did EpiLASIK a month ago, and till now my vision is still blurred and unfocused. It's tiring to even use the PC at work. Mentioned that to the doc, and all he could tell me is - be patient, takes time to heal. Anyone has any tips to make life easier perhaps? Am already using eyedrops frequently to combat dryness.

I also did my EpiLasik a month ago and have experienced blurred and unfocused vision. My vision was so blur in the first 2 weeks that i can barely see what's on the computer screen.
I can see quite clearly now (other than reading fine prints, and experience some halos)
These are what i did, but ymmv..
1. drink more water. Your eyes cant produce enough tears if you are dehydrated.
2. have enough rest and don't strain your eyes. I slept a lot since i pretty much cant do anything with blurred vision.
3. I took fish oil supplement and drink carrot juice everyday. Read somewhere that omega3 aid corneal healing, and carrot juice contains vitamin A for keeping eyes healthy.
4. Put oily eye drop every 1 to 2 hour that was prescribed by the doc even when i dont feel my eyes are dry. Doc told me eyes heal faster when they are moist.
5. Wear your sunglasses when you go outdoor.
Lastly, u can also try the exercise as suggested by IceShelterX.

Hi, anyone in late 30s who is still myopic in both eyes and havent started presbyopia, have tried lasik (monovision) to have one eye look far and the other read near? How is it for u? Hard or easy to adapt? How much vision in each eye did the eye surgeon correct for u?

Advice of LASIK/ LASEK , with blepharitis

I will really appreciate some advice right now. I am scheduled to do LASEK with SNEC.
The hospital has my past records that i visited them for sensitive dry eyes due to blepharitis. However , after the checks by the doctor , the SNEC doctor says that my eyes are suitable to undergo LASEK procedure.

However, after visiting a private Lasik clinic , the doctor felt that my eyes are dry and he recommended putting in eye drops every hour . Come back for review in 2 weeks again to see if i am suitable.

Which doctor should i go with ? SNEC or private

I always felt that SNEC doctors were more conservative , hence i wanted to go with them.
However , i am unsure now.

Any advice ?

Hello, no harm getting second opinion.
If you are not in hurry, get a review at the private one.

You probably still have to wait around 1hr before the surgery on that day. But no worries, it is a pretty painless process and all you have to do is to stare at the green light

Your op is almost one month after i did mine. I am going back on Tuesday too for review, just before my one month free consultation expire.

My recovery is slow but does get better each day. I am still experiencing some minor halo, blur and having some difficulty in focusing and reading the fine prints. I do notice my vision is worse when the eyes are dry.
But i feel my vision is fully functional already

Me normally no.
But when I put on contact lens, I feel my eyes dry quickly, so I actually stopped wearing them for three months. I stopped not because of this procedure though haha.

Hello, I am on my sixth day. Vision is blur but I can read. Have not removed my bandage contact lens cox the doctor is on leave until tuesday.

Procedure is ok.. just a bit scary haha I was kinda tensed. No pain at all. Post procedure as well. So far no significant pain and I am quite surprised cox I was expecting some tearings, but nope.

From what i understand, ICL is more costly.

ICL is for those with high myopia, like over thousands. Not sure about cornea thickness but maybe thin cornea also can because my sister has thin cornea that there is no other options for her except ICL.
ICL is reversible. The talk I went was Dr Cheryl's. She mentioned over all the patients she had, there were two cases whereby the lens shifted in the eyes. One was being punched at the right place so the lens shifted, another one was a car accident if I remember correctly.

Haha i also sleep lesser as my vision improves.

My left eye was better than my right eye in the first 2 weeks cos it experienced less starburst/halo as compared to the right. But now my right eye is sharper than my left eye.
Last week's review shows the reading are R:0 degree, L:25 degree. Doc said my eyes are still healing, so the left eye will also get to 0 degree eventually.

My vision was very blur during the 1st week, and only started to clear up from the 2nd week. So I cant really tell if there is any difference after my lens are removed. Anyway there is also no pain when the lens are removed, cos by then the epithelium already healed.

From the epilasik talk, the doc did talk about ICL.
He mentioned that ICL is more risky than lasik cos it is more invasive.
He said that ICL increases the risk of glaucoma cos the lens blocked the drain, and hence increase the pressure in the eye.
To prevent/reduce the risk, the doc will laser some 'holes' to create more drainage, causing dry eyes.
It also increase the risk of cataract, as the lens sits beside the nature lens, causing friction.(eg in 50yrs old as compared to maybe 60 yrs old in the majority population)
You cant keep the lens in the eyes forever. It will be removed in the future when going for cataract operation.

The advantages it has are it is able to correct high myopia and it is reversible.

i am on the fence if i should do lasik . As one doctor says that my eyes are fine , but another doctor thinks that my eyes are dry and lasik will worsen the condition.

I have not been wearing contact lenses for a year. I am always wearing specs now , but my eyes still feel dry and there are visible red veins throughout the day.

Anyone else with similar dry eyes problem ? with visible red veins.

I'm quite okay with doing regular stuff - as in going out, doing sports.. etc. but when doing stuff like reading, using the PC, phone... etc. still having difficulty. *sigh* and I've just past the 1 mth mark. aiyah ~
