Just wondering, is i7-3770k worth getting over the i5-3570k for a gaming rig if I want to future-proof my rig?

Hi Everyone,

I am looking to build the following system and re-use some old components. Do you think it is ok?

Asus P8H77-M LE (H77) + lga 1155 3470 (New)
Seagate Hybrid SSHD 2GB (New)
Kingston HyperX SE 1600MHz CL9 8GB x 2 (New)
Samsung S24B350TL (New)
Palit GTX650 Ti (New)
300GB sata HDD (Re-use)
Creative Sound Card (Re-use)
Samsung DVD RW (Re-use)

Have not decide in casing as don't know above power consumption requirement.

My usage mainly is watching video on the computer, surfing internet, Office/Excel, maybe occasionally some gaming such as StarCraft 2 or Diablo.

Will appreciate any advice whether the rig is under provision or overkill

Hmm might as well just get the haswell series for more future proof and no point getting k versions if you ain't overclocking though.

probably a 550W power consumption will be ample for your usage.

Just DIY a simple rig, MB is Asrock b75m-dgs with Superflower HX series 500W psu and Sharkoon MS120 casing.
The casing have 2 fans, connect 1 to chasis fan connector on motherboard and the other to psu. There's a power fan connector on MB which I can't find any cable to connect to from the psu...
Any way to monitor the psu fan?...thanks.

Hi...I'm building a DIY pc.

Plan to use Intel Pentium G2140 processor which can support 3 displays according to the specs.

I'll be using 4 of 22" monitors for live streaming data , no gaming at all.

How many graphic cards do i need ? was looking at msi gtx610....will 1 card sufficient for the
4 displays? tks

Just get value ram save the money and get a better casing.
SSD: Samsung 850 EVO 120GB
Dont think will be enough 120 is really too little. It will make you buy another SSD really soon because you will never like HDD start up speed anymore :s13:. I myself change from 120 to 256 and now 500.

So i think 256gb is ok but 500gb will be great.

hi i'd to ask tho its a little off topic, that how are SLS prices as compared to pcpartpicker prices? i converted all prices from ppp to sgd and realized they're lower than SLS' prices by a huge margin. A build that i made on PPP costs me 1.2k sgd but according to SLS prices its gonna hike up to at least 1.4 or so, is it normal?

I can't start a new thread but this seems to be the most appropriate thread to ask this...

Recently I just setup a new desktop from SLS, but I started to feel this build is a bit slow in performance... Wonder if I can just change parts here and there to upgrade this new desktop? This is my current build...

AMD RYZEN 3 3200G CPU
MSI A320M-PRO MAX (AM4) Mainboard
KINGSTON 2666MHz 8GB CL17 DDR4 Desktop RAM (LLT)
Hikvision E100 Series 128GB 2.5" SSD
Toshiba 1TB 7200rpm 3.5" SATA 3 HDD
MS WIN10 Home Premium 64bit
FSP Hyper K 500W 80+Plus
Cooler Master N200 Non-window M-ATX casing

Sure you can. Look at your motherboard/cpu as the possible change. The SSD brand I never heard before also.

Guys I try to plug in the 3 ping and 4 pin rgb cable, but the h310m both 3/4 pin are on top of which other so if I plug in the 3pin, the 4 pin not able to plug in due to lack of space. May I ask if there's anyway you can work around this?

This will depend on how heavy the video edit will be. Generally speaking, Adobe's premiere pro uses cuda for acceleration, so Nvidia graphics card will help with the render. Getting a cheap-ish card like 1650 or 1660super will help.

CPU wise, more cores are better for video editing, If you can get your hand on sth like AMD's 2600 would go a long way. But you will need to change your motherboard as well.

SSD is important for video editing so you can stick to your 240gb if there's enough space.

These should hopefully be less than $500

Should splurge mroe on GPU or cpu for Adobe. I know warp stabilisation need single core speed but other than that is mostly more cores the better? Rendering with cpu h264 better than nvenc?

Definitely CPU. CPU is still the one that do the most heavy lifting.
