I have experience dealing with the first centre - DH Korean Language centre and I would like to share my experiences so that the fellow forum-ers can make informed choices when choosing a suitable Korean school. I am an undergraduate and I've been supporting myself through university. However, I signed up for Korean classes with this language centre, parting with my hard earned money because I believed that they were of high standards.

I couldn't be more wrong.

Firstly, 3 working days before classes were due to commence, I received an irresponsible SMS telling me that classes were unconditionally postponed to a month later due to insufficient enrollment. But they initially told me that classes were filling up quickly and advised me to register asap. To show my sincerity, I even paid upfront in cash in full. How could this centre so frivolously postpone classes with SO LITTLE notice? When I informed the representative who had SMS-ed me that I would not be able to accept any postponement arrangements and requested for a refund, she haughtily referred me to a clause in tje contract - The centre reserves the right to postpone classes WITH prior notice, if there are not enough students. How is 3 days prior notice? It's plain ridiculous.

Lesson One: This centre takes their students for granted and may SUKA SUKA postpone your lesson. They don't give two hoots about whether you can accommodate their postponement...............................

Hi there, personally definitely do not agree with what you said about Daehan Korean Language Centre...

1) There have been instances where classes have been postponed under unforeseen circumstances, but me and my friends have always been notified in advance and we were allocated to other classes later on. You have to understand that all private education centres need a minimum number of students in a class to open (unless you opt to attend individual lessons). This is not something that is unreasonable.

2) The staff there have always been friendly and helpful. Including the teachers, principal and educational director. Whenever I had questions to ask them, no matter how minor it was, they always took the time to answer my queries.

The language centre has been established since 2006 and the reason why it continues being so popular is due to their teaching curriculum and a dedicated group of people who are so passionate about spreading the Korean language in Singapore...

You sound extremely bitter to me about something, and I'm appalled that you would take to comment so negatively about such a good school.

DH Korean

I'm currently with Daehan Korean Language Centre.
What I liked about their courses was they were relatively flexible. You can consult with them on the areas you'd like to focus on your Korean (e.g. more conversational / more academic) as well as they budget and they will be able to recommend you a course that suits your needs best.

Also, as their classes are not too big (ranging from 8 - 15 students per class), the teachers are able to give you their full attention and it is more conducive for learning. In addition, apart from the books, some of the teachers also give additional notes/vocab/idioms to aid in your study..

They also offer TOPIK courses for those preparing to register for the exams!
Daehan is quite famous among a couple of my classmates too.. They also have this annual Korean Night Festival which you can participate as a volunteer. I think they're holding it for their 6th year already:)

The centre is located in Kembangan Plaza (opp Kembangan MRT) so it's relatively convenient... Most teachers have been with the centre for a long time as well and come from top universities in Korea, so you know you'll be in good hands.

Ganada or Ezsam

Hi, any students from Ganada or Ezsam to share their learning experiences from these 2 schools? I am interested to take up Korean course and I am stuck between choosing these 2.

Ganada is cheaper in terms of cost but how about the learning process? Is it as good as ezsam?

I have been with Ganada on my basics & Intermediate now.

I do enjoy the teacher (Kim Ji Hey)'s coaching. Her teaching is very easy to understand.

I am picking up Korean language from scratch (and I never really watch Korean drama etc) but I am really interested and determined to achieve fluency. Currently I am learning Hanguel and is trying to listen to the syllabus of each Hanguel before moving on to grammar and vocabulary.

I am familiar with the 10 basic vowel as well as 14 consonant. I also know the more complex consonant and vowel individually but when I try to mix them together into batchim (with a final consonant sound), I become pretty confused and there are no website that I could find to mix and match in order to listen to the pronunciation of these words.

Can anyone recommend me any good website/books/resources for me to listen to the pronunciation of Hanguel because I am really worried that I speak wrongly?

Thanks thanks
