Have you guys heard of lang-8.com? Cuz I'm reading through the last few pages of this thread and honestly, virtually all of these questions can be answered if you just go on that website. I started using it as part of my Japanese learning, and it's been a tremendous resource.

Basically it's a platform where native speakers of a language (ie. doesn't have to be Japanese) help other people who are trying to learn their language. Most of the communication is via blog posts - so you can post a short blog entry with whatever questions/issues you want to clarify regarding grammar in, for example, Japanese. That entry then goes out to the native Japanese speakers and they are invited to answer your question. If you don't think your Japanese is good enough, you can always request for responses to be written in English and there are lots of Japanese speakers who can do that.

I love that it's a free tool and I get a lot of helpful responses very quickly. It also connects me with lots of Japanese who are interested in honing their English conversational skills so we end up talking on Skype and helping each other out with Japanese/English. The key to improving and retaining a language is usage, so getting lots of chances to speak to Japanese who are willing to put up with my "work in progress" Japanese is awesome. You should check it out if you haven't :)

Separately, I'm taking Japanese classes at Bunka over at Delfi Orchard right now. If anyone needs info/ thoughts on my experience so far, let me know. Happy to share.

N4の文字·語彙は優しいけど、文法はまあまあです。聴解のほうが難しいです。
そうでしたか。。。

「引越しのを伝えましたか」
「引越しすることを伝えましたか」

こんばんは。

Today, i had the chance to take N2 with my students. I would like to do some sharing of my analysis of N2 and N1.

Today, for N2 grammar questions, i analyzed that there were 4 N4 questions, 3 N3 questions, 5 N2 questions.
After discussing with a few teachers from other countries, we also see that there is a lot of foundation questions that are being tested.

What does this mean? Foundation is very important. Some students that i speak to, they just want to get their N2 or N1,
but they never realized what is important is their foundation (N4 and N5). N3,N4,N5 can pass, then when they take N2, they realized it's a different game altogether.
You can try a mock test on the official JLPT website (just Google JLPT)

There is a trend that N2 and N1 exam papers are testing on N4 and N5 stuff. JLPT board changes the questions here and there until you don't understand
what they are talking about, but it's actually a N4/N5 grammar question.

As such, i would like to offer a few pointers:

1) Firm up your foundation grammar (minimum must get 85% and above for N4 and N5 mock test paper). This is also why for my students, if you fail to get 75% for their JLPT, they have to repeat their Beginner or Intermediate course (free of charge if they complete minimum 40 lessons with me).

2) Practise heavily on your noun-modification (名詞修飾形) ,

3) Practise heavily on your forms

If you need any advice, feel free to talk to me. There is no obligation to take up lessons with me. All i want to do is to be able to help a fellow "junior" to do well for his/her JLPT.

I will be going through N2 analysis on Monday (6th July) at 10pm-11pm GMT+8 via Skype

If interested to listen more, kindly drop me a message with your Skype id and i will add you on Skype.

/Can

まずは1番を選ぶのに、変なと思いますので2番に変えった。文法の時間が足りないかな。。チェックしてもできなかった。。

And I found that more of N5 grammer points came out..

They way the answers are phrased are not as straightforward as when I took n5 last year. It's confusing that sometimes although 2 answers can be singled out, the meaning is different and I have to go with gut feeling to choose. :s22:

Those taking N2, see the below...

眠ってしまいそうになった。
->actually N4, but seems like outside JLPT

買わずにおこう
->this one also N4. They change here, change there until u dunno what is it...

My ex-student who took N1 said this to me...

"Actually be honest I don't trust that much in u when u say that n1 test on n2 to n5 stuff .. Till I see the をもって... In the n2 book and in the n1 questions"

haiz... (>_<)

Overall review:

N1 difficulty: listening difficulty went up. Speed went up.

E.g there was this 慕われる (したわれる) and 画一的 (かくいつてき)

N2 difficulty maintained

N3 difficulty went down

E.g

敬語 qns: いらっしゃいます
~に選ばれたことがある

薬を飲んだら、熱が次第に下がってきた。
1) すぐに 2) どんどん 3) やっと 4) 少しずつ

Answer is 4...

How about N4 and N5 difficulty???
