actually you can use 来ました<NAME>ですin replacement of 来た<NAME>です. in both cases, meaning the same but the first one is thought to be more formal and polite.

Don't think the 2nd one is nan [なん]. Because Kare [かれ] is a person, not a thing.

でございます only used in letters.

During conversation, use

i remember でございます is also used in conversation leh, but i don't know how exactly it's to be used.
eg.

oh, just found something on the net.

in the first example, it is used in self introduction, but used with "と申す" in front.

more examples:
Here is your meal, sir.

I'm afraid all our rooms are fully booked.

Sure. For which days will that be?

basically its the more 丁寧 form of です. but i don't know how to explain why it's not used for self-intro.

でございます can be used, like when u take up a phone call and answer... =)

Btw, for those books fanatic like me, Minna no Nihongo Intermediate Edition is out.... Not really a good book i think.

Will upload some pages later.

hello all,

i'm thinking of skipping jlpt 3 and going to jlpt2 straight before they change the system.

is it possible to go straight to ikoma for jlpt2 pre-class next year? or i must at least have some grasp of what jlpt 2 is like? coz i'm going to finish my int4 at bunka by end of january which is at the jlpt 3 level. and the pre-advanced waiting time at bunka can be quite long.

thanks!!

May i know what is the difference between these 2? From what i know 1 is more correct. Why?

Thank You.

Thanks alot...then i maybe striking JCS out...
If take both part time n prep then i think its gonna cost a bomb...
Anyone took Ikoma full time class b4...?
How intensive is it ...?i know its 5 day per wk...
Most importantly,manageable?

Full-time class will also cost you a bomb, and it's on weekdays 3hrs/day during working hours, so I'm not sure how that is gonna fit your schedule. I guess it should be manageable if you're not working or studying full-time.

There's quite a gap between JLPT3 and JLPT2. You can actually attempt to cram JLPT2 within a year, but ask yourself why you are learning japanese. Is your interest sufficient to sustain intensive learning throughout the whole year? Ikoma JLPT2 prep class is very exam-oriented and you have to look to other sources for conversation practice.
