as for assesment books... you can ask dimitri if there is any need but for me, i get those dictionary book as i find them useful for me coz my homework got picture of item but need to write them in hiragana... so i used this book to find those words that i dont know.

Guys, I had a look at the Japanese bookstore over the weekend and saw this excellent book.

I bought the Intermediate edition some years ago but it seems the Advanced edition was finally released this year. It's very expensive but it's totally worth it. I compared the book to Dimitri_can's recommended grammar book for JLPT4 to 1 but the English explanations in this one are much more detailed. It compares and contrasts different example sentences and tells you when and why each grammar form should/should not be used.

I'm really tempted to buy the book myself since I'm in still Japan and my school can help me to get a marginal discount but it's just so expensive Maybe I should treat it as a Christmas present for myself.... どうしよう？？！

Hello. I have bought the basic version about 2 years ago. Planning to get the intermediate version end of this month.

Btw, for intermediate version, it is suitable for which level? JLPT 3 or 2?

Anyways, I'm just looking at the prices of the new electronic dictionaries in Japan. My old Canon wordtank doesn't have a stylus which makes me so lazy to use it. I wish I bought from Amazon earlier. They're so cheap if you get from Amazon. Now it's probably too late to order since I'm flying back this week

I thought I should be able to get them for the same prices in physical stores since there is no discount indicated on Amazon but apparently not!! The online websites of physical stores are selling them for about 3000-5000 yen more!! I'll just have to check them out tomorrow. Tomorrow is the Emperor's birthday so it's a public holiday thus no school.
