Flying off 1 week after that. Someone from PA class says her Int4 finishers will be holding a barbecue a few days before she leaves sg, but he does not have the details.

No. Won't be coming back to teach, but may visit as a tourist instead.

Hello guys, I was wondering if anyone was taught by Ms Yamamoto or Ms Takeyama from Bunka before? How were their lessons like? I'm starting Ele 1 on 7 Dec. Did anyone sign up too?

was ever taught by takahashi, sekizawa, yamamoto and shida. yamamoto sensei taught me el2 and most of the int levels.

all of them teach pretty well. i find sekizawa in particular an exceptionally good at teaching, which also makes his classes pretty tough. lets just say he knows how to make you put in effort. he prepares for lessons at a level i have never seen with other sensei.

the fact that i have followed yamamoto's int classes speaks for itself. the bunka teachers are generally very good (the system also plays a part) but each sensei is a different person with distinct personalities, so sometimes its less of a matter of who is good but rather who you get along with. 十人十色。different kinds of people get along differently. or depending on your level of participation, it may not matter at all.

some people study for the sake of passing jlpt within the shortest period of time which or whatever, which is totally fine. but sometimes with time, especially contact time, there is no shortcut.

its the last JLPT in world history! and my last JLPT paper in my life....

heard it will be fully replaced with N levels 5 years from 2010

hi there people! i was a bunka student and i'd say that sato sensei and sekizawa are both very good teachers. but to quote anfield22, sekizawa sensei's classes tend to be more intensive.(IMO)

anyway, good luck to those taking JLPT this year!

I guess I came to the right place to ask since everyone's like coming here to seek advice. :X

anyway , I initially wanted to take jap lesson from Singapore Poly (I'm a student there) but my fren advise me not to.
So , now I'm waiting for JCS's elementary level intake during december.
Is JCS recommendable?

I think your friend didn't tell u the syllabus has changed. They are no longer using 新文化の日本語, e v sucky book。They have switched to みんなの日本語, after a lot of complaints i guess...

Btw, Ikoma uses みんなの日本語 too... =)

i would recommend BUNKA for elementary and intermediate level...
JCS is good but highly depends on sensei...

Be sure to constantly revise your notes and books while waiting for bonus, otherwise all the money and time spent previously will be wasted if you do nothing in the meantime and forget what you learned..
