For me, I will rather to go to get Dell ProSupport with accidental damages,
this will costs around $200~300 range for 3 years coverage for Dell Inspiron 15 7000 model.

Why Dell ? simple as 123, no one know better than Dell on Dell product. ;)

So Dell will replace your drenched spoilt parts for free without any word with this accidental damage coverage?

i wonder how much heat is being generated and how they cool this Dell Inspirion 15 7000 laptop.

Looking at its 130W power brick will provide an idea... Too bad the fans are still running noisily despite having 2 of them to cool this heat monster.

Who know it turn up you are more familiar on how to use Intel RealSense 3D camera and Windows 10 Hello on that Inspiron 24 7000 AIO..:)

Unless that salesman is also one of HWZ members or a Dell staff..:D

Since this is the only new product with the newest revision Intel RealSense 3D camera, i strongly believe there will be a Dell rep to introduce the product and its function. Anyone can confirm this at J8?

If for non gamer, will it a waste for me to get this Dell Inspiron 15 7000 for normal usage such as surf net and read article?

In this circumstance I think most of people will suggest go for Surface Pro or Ipad instead. ;)

I would say yes. Dell Inspiron 15 7000 is too powerful and high performance for your requirements. Surface Pro is a good and popular choice. Some manufacturers do have android(touchscreen) and ultrabook in one, so you can consider that too.

personally, i feel that budget is a big factor, especially with students.

I would go for a laptop that has long battery life, has the ability to transform into a tablet, and with a decent CPU (minimum 4th gen i3) and 4GB ram. i wont need a laptop with a dedicated GPU because the integrated graphics in the i3 processor is good enough to run most games (few years old) at low settings eg. dota 2, counter strike. i will instead invest in a desktop for serious gaming. the price of a gaming desktop + a working laptop is lower than a gaming laptop. as a student, i want to be more budget conscience.

i need long battery life because when you are in school, you move around all the time, meaning you will likely be without a power point most of the time. You cant afford your laptop to die out on you. the ability to transform into a tablet will help me if im in a scenario whereby i need to carry the laptop. i cant possibly type on the laptop while carrying it. the i3 processor and 4GB RAM will make sure that work done on it will be smooth without lag.

so main thing im looking out for is: budget -> battery -> processor -> ram.
if got more budget, definitely a SSD instead of HDD. working on it will be even smoother. faster read write etc.

not really. So many student can afford Macbook. This means that their parents are loaded. :s22:

Since price is not of a concern, its the features which are of greater importance. Like you mentioned, long battery life is definitely a must have for students. SSD is mainly for the speed. Portability is also a major factor as seen from Macbooks and Ultrabook which students are using.

This means that the Dell Inspirion 15 7000 is definitely not the choice for regular students who dont require gaming and powerful performance. The weight should put them off since it is considerably much heavier than ultrabooks.

I wonder if its possible for the 4k UHD Touchscreen such as the one installed in the Dell Inspirion 15 7000 to use a 1080p resolution when its not required. Means can toggle inbetween different resolutions.

Sony Xperia Z5 Premium has this technology in place to help preserve long battery life. The 4k screen is only used when watching media.

Dell Inspirion 24 7000 is mainly for use with Intel® RealSense™ 3D Camera. The graphics card is only GeForce 940M 4GB GDDR3.

wah. expected a better graphics card. dont think can play aaa games at high settings.

Dell Inspiron 15 7000 cannot opt for a FHD screen?

Dell Inspirion 15 7000 can opt for FHD previously but now after checking the website they removed the Red and FHD option. Only left the 4k UHD Touchscreen black.

I think is due to the mix up of price witj or without 4K previously for the Dell Inspiron 15 7000?

must scold the parents these days. keep spoiling their kids. :s13:

apple actually quite good to students. they have this education price. when i bought my mbp, it was like $200 off from the normal price. got MS office student too.

i went to check on dell's page. they also have this education promo page. but when i access it, that page has no products. :s13:

I don't think Windows support auto switching of resolution. Maybe in near future, Dell will make a power app for 4k laptop that when you plug in the wall socket, it will run native resolution, and when on the road, you have a choice of lower resolution. Until then, you can manually switch resolution?

Normally higher resolution eats more battery ba, so Dell Inspiron 15 7000 should follow suit. I see those smartphones also like that. Sometime I wonder if it's really worth to sacrifice battery life for better screen clarity since he is already v clear le

But the laptop for Dell Inspiron 15 7000 quite big so i was expecting better battery life than the predecessor...

still remember yrs back using dell Inspiron 6000 mine first dell laptop~ heavy and big 15inch laptop last time no such thing as ultrabook haha and that time not cheap~ as expensive as now Dell Inspiron 15 7000 Series. Now laptop so much lighter compare last time.

optical drive now hardly use and external optical drive they make until very small & slim not hard just to bring along one in ur laptop bag :)

I also no need for an ODD for my laptop. Does the normal Dell Inspiron 15 7000 comes with ODD if yes, can remove?
