Seems like Dell and Intel has come up with a new product to take technology to a new level! Hopefully they will be able to develop more apps to use this new technology! It's really cool man!

cool is 1 thing but if it means more $$$.... :(

Intel RealSense Technology to Power Psychological Thriller Game

http://www.digit.in/apps/intel-reals...ame-27666.html

“We believe that the ability of Intel RealSense technology to measure heart rate has unprecedented potential to immerse gamers,” said Chuck McFadden, Producer, Intel RealSense Games.

This is gonna change the way we pak games in the future.

the kind of games will be very limited. at first try it might be refreshing and fun but after awhile it becomes stale and boring.
it is impossible to implement this into games like gta v, witcher 3 etc

I think gonna take a little while more.

Touchscreens are intuitive, Mouse and keyboards are here for a really long time so we're kind of used to it.

Gestures wise, it is not as intuitive and there will bound to be alot of inaccuracies (and weird things we have to do) due to interpretation of the computer. (Like how vocal recognition, is often inaccurate due to different accents/sound waves). Maybe personalised calibration is required for better utilisation?

While immersion is the ultimate goal, is still quite far off.

(Or Maybe we won't need to use our bodies even in the future; just control wih or brains. Think Hawkings)

Does the Dell XPS 15 also has the Intel RealSense 3D camera with Windows 10 Hello?

I think Intel is capable enough to work with Microsoft to incorporate the RealSense technology to work with Windows 10 Hello :o

But if combining this with VR I think the Japanese game developers gonna have a field day :s13:

I agree, is not easy cuz after all we are just too used to our good old keyboard and mouse combination.

probably for games like warcraft or red alert. too fast paced like gta etc, i doubt the computer and camera can capture the hand motions.

True, is definitely gonna take sometime for this tech to take off, not to mention in getting people to start using it, long way I suppose.

Well, that how's it is whenever there's a new technology. But if there are useful apps, then people might be willing to pay to use it. :s12:

Imagine if you can control a robot to fight fire like this next time. Song boh!

Anyone knows besides Intel webpage, anywhere in Singapore sells the Intel Realsense Developer Kit? I'm thinking of the Developer Kit vs Microsoft Kinect (with its adapter for PC) to experiment with depth-sensor motion capture.

Saw there are 2 dell monitors rewards. Just nice my dell monitor is about 5 years old need to change already. Hope can win one monitor to replace it. Best it with the intel motion sensing.

My old dell 24 is still working well, still remember I paid $999 after a MO held here. :D

I think gesture and facial recognition is better than touch screen for desktop usage. Reaching and touching across the monitor is not as sensible as on a phone or tablet. It is good Intel and Dell are researching on this area. It can be further expanded to living room use in TV and HT entertainment controls.

After reading through, I may still go for Microsoft Kinect for Xbox. Coz Intel RealSense camera kinda still sucks, their F200 and R200 3D cameras only have VGA resolution support (640x480) for depth and IR sensors.
