The camera rocks on the Venue 8. With Lytro comparisons.

What's special about the camera? To be accurate, there are four cameras on the Venue 8; there's one on the front for selfies or video calling, and three on the back. The setup on the rear is the RealSense Snapshot system, and it captures depth information alongside the main image. That means that, as with the Lytro lightfield system, it's possible to change the focus of an image after it's been captured.

RealSense isn't quite the same as Lytro, though. The latter has multiple micro-lenses and captures a lot more information. RealSense uses the extra sensors to capture layers of an image, with the additional cameras providing depth information, up to around 30 metres.

The gallery software provided lets you change the focus by tapping, and a slider controls the bokeh effect. It can look pretty dramatic, but it can also, at times, make the layers very visible. On some shots of the garden, for instance, the end result made it look as if bushes were really just painted flat boards. It certainly can lift photos dramatically, but it's a tool to be used with care.

The revolutionary Intel® RealSense™ Camera uses depth-sensing technology so your PC sees more like you do. Use the added dimension to scan 3D objects, control your PC with gestures, or create a more lifelike video chat environment. Reinvented video chat lets you customize your background, and share content with friends as if you're in the same room together.

Wow cannot 'do' a mckkj stunt in front of computer now.
Video teaser for week 1:

What’s with all that gesturing and waving around?
We'll be revealing Part 2 of this video on Friday, 30 October. Watch this space!
Serious answer: The guy in front of the dell all in one(aio) computer looks like he is playing a game using Intel RealSense Technology with hand gestures.
Funny answer: The guy also looks like he is fondling some invisible tits at the same time sticking his tongue out.

Dell release the new Venue 10 7000 android tablet with RealSense.

In addition, Dell included Intel's RealSense snapshot depth camera, which the chip company revealed this week, with the tablet. The technology used in RealSense is small enough that it can fit into a smartphone, or in this case, a tablet.

RealSense technology comes in three forms: A front-facing camera that captures facial movements and tracks fingers and hands, a rear-facing camera that can scan and measure, and a snapshot camera, which can alter photo backgrounds later.

RealSense has been integrated into a host of applications, such Dell Gallery, which uses the technology's measuring capabilities.

In addition, Dell's new tablet features smart albums to help users automatically organize photo files.

Dell has also built into the new tablet the company's suite of Mobile Management and Mobile Workspace software designed for business users, and the IT departments that have to manage large fleets of mobile devices. These tools allow workers to secure multiple device types and operating systems, including Android, and also manage applications and content on the devices. This helps to make corporate data more secure, especially as it moves away from the company's secure internal data centers.

Just released news, worth reading although there's a lot of words lol.

There’s the illuminator, which sits above the screen. It houses a projector, a high resolution 14.6 megapixel camera, and an Intel RealSense 3D camera. You can scan 2D and 3D objects and documents.
Crazily expensive computer.
After reading through, I may still go for Microsoft Kinect for Xbox. Coz Intel RealSense camera kinda still sucks, their F200 and R200 3D cameras only have VGA resolution support (640x480) for depth and IR sensors.
Why you answer your own question?
so fast he got the laptop... how he get so many points so soon ones?:s12:=:p
so far only 6 points lol =:p
This is before admin start awarding bonus points.
Seem gimmicky . How many games/programs actually works well with motion capture @ the present?

Need an actual live demo of product .

Though using it as a consumer /security applications looks interesting.

Wait for it to be popular, doesn't really pay to be early adopters of such technology.
The lower end is $300 and $250 Dell Inspiron 24 and 15 vouchers... not bad too..
Dell vouchers like no use to some people. Slightly more than 10 real prizes only.
Think he is making a virtual one handed roti prata...haha
He already drooling
Funny answer. :s13:

Using the depth-sensing technology, hackers can gauge how big your house is and what treasures you have at home?

The Dell Power Companion is just a power bank?
The price is quite expensive.
Maybe the price of those dell products is inflated.

Even Razer Project Winona that implemented the cool technology of RealSense.
Gonna be expensive since it is from Razer.

Intel® RealSense™ Depth Enabled Photography

Summary: In short, it’s a new and compelling way to create, present, and experience visual art.

The cameras provide accurate, real-time 3D rendering of the surrounding, robots can maneuver through complex terrain more effectively than before. This technology will also aid the development of self-driving cars.

Cameras on future mobile devices will not be the same once DEP becomes mainstream.

If the intel realsense camera is on the monitor, how to do 3d scanning? Saw people taking 3d scan for making figurine, they had to stand very still while the 'photographer' went a few rounds with the handheld scanner.

User has to move the monitor around the object or it is only limited to gesture?

Specs mentioned infra-red. But i guess other manufacture will adopt similar tech with true laser 3D scanning.

Don't know whats wrong with creative, the electronics can hide behind screen with just the 3 camera/sensors hanging above screen what...

I will still stick to traditional handheld controller. Wearing the VR headgear will block user from seeing what is in front. Easy to accidentally knock thing in the heat of action while playing game with the intel realsense camera.

You are not supposed to wear it and walk or move around. Usually the monitor keyboard mouse or what not sensors are the only thing in front.

The perfect way to use is to sit on couch.

To be honest in SG I seldom see people use Dell laptop. Even with this RealSense technology I doubt it will do strong in SG :(

Last time sell Dell laptop also people take other brand brochure and ask me why Dell so expensive :(

The Dell android tablet maybe still can survive (if the pricing not too expensive).

Creative don't do monitors mah so the only way is for them to develop a standalone device to work with any kinds of monitor. Rather than restricting you to only one brand of monitor.
