last year during NDP i was gonna use the G4 to try and shoot fireworks but too lazy to travel down to venue so al I had was a short video from my neighbourhood highrise. For new years day fireworks the chance was missed thanks to bootloop

decided to head down to today's combined rehearsal to try my luck

The venue (sports hub) has railings so no need for a big tripod. Used wide angle lens and ND8 filter.

This is the spot I shoot from. Some people go to tanjong rhu which gets the fireworks and stadium in the frame, but i lazy to walk 1.3km from sports hub

all exposures were set to 10 seconds. first two have the wide angle lens clipped on, the last two have only the ND filter and regular G4 lens. Given how the fireworks are so near, the wide angle lens is practically a must have if you want to capture the entire fireworks

Those photo are impressive for a camera phone :)

Does anyone have the same issue with me? My LGH815 loads up the contact list slowly. When I try to search for my contacts, it takes up to 60 seconds to be able to find that contact. Running on Android 6.0, V20c-SEA-XX. Contacts are not synced with any other applications. Only my phone contacts. Totally stock phone. Would really appreciate any advice!

It seems to be related to Google Android + Sync issue.

Here's what I did to alleviate the problem.

1) Backup your contacts. (Very important)
2) Go to Settings>Apps>All and clear data from "contacts storage" file
3) Reinstall your contacts
4) Stay happy..

After the above steps my contact storage file reduced from 200MB to 3.7MB but apparently, this file grows overtime even when you do not add any new contacts. So you may need to repeat the procedure from time-to-time for house-keeping sake.

wow almost got a scare. I left my phone charging, and was checking on it just now and realized the screen can't be wake up. Thought kena my 2nd bootloop. Removed the batt and replaced it and fortunately can go back to menu on first attempt. False alarm *sweat*

I wonder how much this phone can fetch? Out of warranty but mobo replaced 2x so unlikely to fail again :p

The lesser of two evils would be trading it in to save yourself potential trouble should it boot loop out of the blue. (Hours / possibly days after sale)

It's your choice though!
Price wise, you can check prices on our forums here or on sites such as carousell.

yea i think someone posted here before something about how only phones serviced after nov/dec were correctly serviced, according to the service centre

whoever was in the first batch of bootloop victims who got their phones serviced in Q4 2015 I think would be at risk of 2nd bootloop

the general word is that brand new G4s with the 505 or 506 series motherboard etc are from the 'initial batch' and those have the bootloop risk, basically any G4 manufactured before September 2015

if youre buying a brand new G4 and are able to check the serial number which usually is together with the IMEI no. on the box sticker, a serial number that is larger (eg. 512) might be safer. Still no surefire guarantee though.

Within LG, skip G4 and head definitely to G5

Out of Android eco system - there isn't much except a Windows 10 phone or the iPhone 6S /6S+

Within Android, it would depend on your budget and range of features you would like to have coming from the GPro 2 :D

Maybe you can browse around the respective User groups for their dedicated threads! :) or post your thoughts here for us to have a look!

Cheers!

Thanks!

I'm only looking around as my g pro 2 is working fine. Mainly fb, browsing, whatsapp. Simple games like sim city and need for speed no limits.

For sure I'm not looking at iPhone. Don't like the ios and they're over over priced. Don't mind win10 but limited choice in models and over budget.

Budget is max $500. Preferably with big screen.

Possibility is redmi note 3. Within budget, decent sized screen. Can easily change without hurting the wallet if something better comes along. :)

Oneplus 3 looks interesting.

Anyway no rush. Don't worry about me. I'll lurk around the various threads ;)

need some help

I suddenly found that my G4 cannot playback any of the 4K videos I recorded, regardless which app I use to record the video, or which app I use to play the video. Also doesnt matter if the video file is on the phone storage or on the SD card

If the video is 1080p it is still ok. What happens when I try to play a 4k video is the video will freeze while audio continues playing. I pulled out the 4k videos onto my PC to try and play them and there's no problem with the video file, have even tried using stock camera app to record and then playback something in 4K and it has same issue.
