finally got this bootloop dead on one of my G4. disappointed. thinking whether to just leave it or bring to LG repair as it is already out of warranty (14 months)

bring to claim warranty.... Cos this one is known issue...

anybody's G4 heating up often? these 2 days my G4 keep heating up, especially the top area (near the camera) while its charging.

Charging also takes longer than usual nowadays, on the same charger i've been using the past year. Battery dropped exceptionally fast also, usually can last from morning till 3-4pm, nowadays only last till before lunch time. weird.

Could be battery problem. Tested with another battery?

Got a new problem with my one-year old G4, wonder if anyone else is experiencing the same thing:

Vibration and haptic feedback has become wonky, more so for the latter. When I tap the back or multi-task buttons, the haptic feedback feels and sounds like there is sand inside the phone. (And no I have not been to the beach at all) It just feels so weird and I get the feeling that my phone will die any time soon.

did you update to marshmallow? its notorious for bad battery, so much so that i downgraded from V20C back to lollipop

there are apps that can do data backup, but a whole system image backup would be doable only with LG Bridge. Ive done a backup and restore from LG bridge before when I tried marshmallow V20C (used LG bridge to go back to lollipop less than 5 mins after being on V20C when I saw that all the problems were still there)

G4 vs G5 in low light manual, with both at the same ISO and shutter speed, illustrating how the G5, having not used a newer sensor nor changed its aperture, doesnt really improve low light performance compared to the G4.

yeah, the lens cover is held by 2 screws. youtube has tutorials on how to replace the cover.

indeed is the battery problem. Tried another battery and it was better. sigh, one battery down. need to go get another back up as our phone die damn fast.

i happened to have shortlisted the same source/seller's item as what you bought. too many around. from the picture it should be the 'original'? just curious how long did ypur take to reach your home? tia

Ive bought from several sources before and generally theres the real and the fake version of the lens cover. The fake is plastic and doesnt have the AR coating that reflects purple when held up to white light

the real one also has like a metallic edge around the holes for the screws but the fake doesnt

the ebay link i posted was genuine but sady its not so easy to tell just by looking at seller pics, 1 way i try to identify is the dark border around the camera hole. A fake would be pure flat black while the real one is more of a dark blue with the circular grooves pattern

currently im using a real one but will probably swap out for a fake one that is more expendable when i go for overseas reservist later this year

thanks for the info. been looking out on those details too when selecting. saw some info on this too in a youtube video. so hopefully can get the real one as the fake like very prone to scratches.

G4 vs S7 camera again

both at 1/4s ISO100

from the black left and right edges, you can really see the difference a larger sensor can make in pulling more light and detail from dark stuff. In fact the S7 is so bright that I would think 1/4s already let in too much light for this scene so stuff like the robot's right arm looks a bit overexposed.

Now the G4 can still pull in more light, but the shutter has to be left open for so long that doing a handheld shot gets hard, maybe even impossible in some situations.

I tried photographing this cat in 1/4 vs 1/2 second shutter time, you can see the difference. But for the 1/2 second shot, the phone had to rest at ground level. Thats why for all the low light strengths of the G4 I would still not trust shooting auto at night or even evening.

(the 1/4s shot is more accurate to the real scene lighting, but too much noise)

last year during NDP i was gonna use the G4 to try and shoot fireworks but too lazy to travel down to venue so al I had was a short video from my neighbourhood highrise. For new years day fireworks the chance was missed thanks to bootloop

decided to head down to today's combined rehearsal to try my luck

The venue (sports hub) has railings so no need for a big tripod. Used wide angle lens and ND8 filter.

This is the spot I shoot from. Some people go to tanjong rhu which gets the fireworks and stadium in the frame, but i lazy to walk 1.3km from sports hub

all exposures were set to 10 seconds. first two have the wide angle lens clipped on, the last two have only the ND filter and regular G4 lens. Given how the fireworks are so near, the wide angle lens is practically a must have if you want to capture the entire fireworks

Does anyone have the same issue with me? My LGH815 loads up the contact list slowly. When I try to search for my contacts, it takes up to 60 seconds to be able to find that contact. Running on Android 6.0, V20c-SEA-XX. Contacts are not synced with any other applications. Only my phone contacts. Totally stock phone. Would really appreciate any advice!
