gave the service centre a call to gently remind that next week I have to leave for overseas reservist and they managed to get my device fixed today. Motherboard is now 611

guess i'll be spending the rest of the night undoing their MM update and flashing V10F and reinstalling all the stuff

haha oh well

I'll see if i can rush them a bit tomorrow... frankly speaking even if money appeared in front of me, there's nothing in the market at the moment that I consider worthwhile replacement to the G4 (especially considering I only got the G4 last year) so I really want to squeeze 2 years of life out of this thing
Exactly! If no bootloop issue, this is a great phone

Well if we still lived in 2015 then yea it would be, but it has sort of got overshadowed by plenty of 2016 flagships that have better camera and battery, however I wouldnt call it better enough to pay another 800-900 bucks for.

IMO these days, the year on year improvements became so trivial that its not really financially worth it to change phone annually.

Phone went into bootloop, sent it for repair but warranty expired 2 weeks ago. The person was kind enough to give me one last repair and the best thing was.... collected the phone within an hour! fastest repair ever :)

my s/n 505 finally went into the mystical-loop. 4mths shy to 2yrs. Anyhow, got is serviced foc within an hour with s/n 611. If can last for another 4mths then will consider money well spent.

my G4's symptoms were different. Yes, it was bootlooping but as soon as I attached it to a power source it started to work fine. The moment I pulled out the cable bootloop again. Read of a similar cases but not in this forum. After the phone was serviced I tested it at the counter. Low and behold, it bootlooped twice before it died. Aunty at the counter panicked. She tried to power on but failed, so she changed battery and luckily, it powered on. So her conclusion was that my battery had no charge. Fair enough. Left the centre went into the car and immediately plugged it into the car charger. Phone percentage showed 99% :s22:

Walked back into the svc centre and spoke to the technician himself. He was puzzled. He did a check on the battery and said battery was not stable and it was fluctuating in current in other words, it was faulty too. So my question to him was if there was really anything wrong with the board to begin with? Or was it just the battery all along? He said he tested the phone inside before replacing the board and that the board was indeed faulty. :s8:

Anyhow, something you folks can also take note of is that if battery is faulty, you may get similar bootloop symptoms just like in the case of my phone and during the sequence, it is able to power up normally if its hooked up to a power source direct from wall not from PC.

Anyone can confirm that the service centre will replace mobo due to boot loop for free? Even if it is not under warranty? Stay super far from service centre, dont really wanna go there and get rejected.

I purchased my LG G4 on May 2015, Nov 2015 replaced mobo due to wifi issue. Now then it decided to bootloop. Called service centre and msg LG facebook, both said need to pay.: :s22:

First mobo was 501, current one is 511.

if u go thru this thread u will realise that many hv done so successfully. Some even twice or more times after warranty. It all boils down to if u are asking or demanding. Call them up again and this time be a tad more demanding. Do remind them that its a well know issue n many hv been affected n had got their mobo's changed. Speak to a manager if need be. My g4 was from May 2015 batch too got it replaced just this week. My nephew, same thing g4 out of warranty n got it replaced too. For us svc centre is far as well hence, we called and confirmed appt before going down. Hope this helps.

yes they will replace bootloop motherboard for free even if out of warranty. they'll call it a 'last time replacement' but they'll still do it

Thanks for the advice. I asked to speak to a manager. Starting the manager gave me excuse saying the bootloop only happens to a small percentage of phones and ask me where i have heard of the issue being reported. Got to keep on insisting and demanding to get my 'last warranty replacement'.

Got my phone back with new mobo today. Phone seems to be ok but the inner of my lcd screen which had some supposed 'paint peeling' become super jialat when i received the phone. From one spot become one streak. Technician keep insisting it was not their fault. Bo bian. I guess we win some we lose some.

Within 24 hrs of collecting my LG phone, the bootloop returns. Seems like even the new mobo 611 has the same issue? Sigh.

Lucky i never throw away my s4.

LG is just playing punk.. as usual. Its unfortunate that our consumer laws are weak here but I would urge you to call that manager again and ask him for a replacement. If he has any bit of true integrity he will help you. Personally, I would not let the matter rest until I get a full 2yrs out of this freakin phone. I got mobo 611 with last time replacement as well. I asked the cso what if the board fails again within few days or a week then how? She said they would look at it case-by-case. My nephew was ready to go civil on them and they freaked out and replaced. Not saying you do that but at least, talk to them.

Thanks for the advice. I will try calling them. This is the only phone i have had that i didn want to change after a yr. It just sucks that there is such a problem and it is obvious that they refuse to fix it properly.

Update: called in and spoke to the manager of the mobile dept. The previous guy I spoke to was on leave.

He was much nicer and told me to bring down my phone and batt. He also accommodated my request for the phone to be fix on the same day. I didn't have to bang table like when i spoke to the previous guy.

So I brought it in and they replace mobo again. Both my batt were fine. Fix was done within an hour plus.

They also replaced my damaged front screen; which was prob the only redeeming thing from having to travel down so many times. So now my phone is almost as good as new.

Hopefully the phone dont die again.
