for all kinds of customer service it really is a matter of luck since the service staff are also human, sometimes you get good ones and sometimes bad ones.

The same incompetence in the way LG handled the bootloop saga can be seen in how Samsung handled the Note 7. In both cases the initial 'remedy' failed and fixed batches also had same issue, only difference is that LG's issue isnt a safety hazard giving them an excuse to downplay the significance.

new year countdown fireworks on the G4 with a ND8 filter.

im hoping to be able to upgrade to a newer an better camera phone in 2017 after I have passed 2 years of owning the G4. its definitely starting to show its age and for manual mode photography, a lot of the 3rd party apps I use no longer want to play nice with the G4

the replacement LCD that LG gave me in March (to replace the one with image retention) seems to be having issues on my device now, sometimes when the phone has been idle for a long time like overnight, if you power on the phone again the display refuses to work properly and instead just shows vertical coloured stripes (issue not unheard of in TV and phone displays).

Repeatedly turning the display off and on will make the issue go away but I think after all the past incidents with 2 bootloops and the general attitude that LG is having towards their mobile division QC I'm probably ready to jump to another brand for my eventual next phone replacement.

I mean the G4 served fairly well during its time and it did have a good camera which honestly produced some of the best photos I ever took and made me interested in manual photography, just a shame that the good camera was attached to a phone with such a bad track record especially in long term support

This G4 almost gave me a heart attack. Just now open my image gallery saw that all the photos is white in colour. Go into individual photo shows the loading icon. Restarted phone few times, clear cache also. Now is okay. Hope it'll be fine.

This is my first post. Can someone help me?

I was going to use the Camera function in my G4 to take some pictures. On tapping the Camera icon, the phone just blank out. I vaguely remembered that I still have 58% battery life. Nonetheless, I plug it in to charge, but nothing happened. Battery charging indicator light was not on. Took out battery and put back in and saw the LG Android logo screen, and it blacked out again.

Is the phone dead? I read about the 'bootloop' issue in the earlier pages. Is this it?
I have photos in the phone which I would like to retrieve. Is it possible?
What should I do next?

Thanks for any advice.

Yes it sounds like the bootloop issue.

Photos are gone.

Call LG to see if they will replace the motherboard.

If you're using SD card and have set the camera storage to SD card then probably you won't have to worry about your photos.

Mine happened in the 14th months of usage, I left my phone for charging and came back to found my phone stuck in the LG logo. Despite being out of warranty, LG replaced the motherboard for me foc.

Go to the service centre tell them you have the boot loop issue, specifically instruct them to recover your data before they fix the bootloop because the fix is a complete motherboard replacement so definitely will lose data.

Theres word about a DIY method to get your data out by putting the phone in the freezer but its at own risk

Since bootloop on my G4 just after warranty and LG denied to help me, I ditched LG! They are not truthful. The whole internet is full of bootloop saga....

So far the update seems quite good. Some new chat function added to the built-in sms app but I doubt anyone will use it.

Still monitoring to see the performance and battery life. From what I read online, this sw version doesn't make the phone run as hot as previous versions.
