Bros,

Im having trouble with my LG G4. Just wondering if anyone having the same issues as mine. Basically, its been going on for months and recently its getting worse. Some of the problem as below:

1) Screen contrast go purple-ish with faint lines slowly diminishing and slowly become become normal
2) Change brightness to 100% and the screen go haywire with auto clicking and auto on off the screen. Basically cant click anything and it clicks / swipe everything by itself.
3) Only when the brightness change to 0~10% it become barely usable..especially msging, facebooking / instagram. It will simply click words, links and everything. (like there is invisible naughty kid clicking here and there)
4) have to shut off the screen and on again for 5~10sec usable time. so keep click power button to off the screen and on agn for continuous usage.
5) the power button at the back become really hot..i mean really2 hot.

I have tried resetting the phone and its still the same. Anyone facing the same problem and any fix for it?

Thanks in advance.
:(:(:(:(:(:(

Bring to service centre, probably a faulty screen connection.

Yup what you said is about right - most reviews are not on a long term basis - generally released after embargo is lifted - though there are increasing trends on YouTube for instance where reviewers are doing daily driver / Long term reviews to see how well the phone ages with time :)

To add on, Tech reviewers are sometimes given pre production sets - so certain problems encountered maybe in these sets but rectified in the production batches

speaking of long term stuff, my phone has now hit the image retention issue with the status bar icons faintly burned onto the display :s8:

oh ffs, thought I wouldn't kena the bootloop problem but I guess I could only run away for so long. Phone restarted by itself and stuck on the loading screen after that.

Using 506 motherboard btw, I changed my motherboard 3 days after getting the phone in June 2015 because there was a serious battery drain. :(

Do they change the motherboard on the spot now or do I have to leave it with them for a couple of days?

i dont have the warranty..anyone have any idea how much does it cost to repair if they change the MoBo?

or better just throw and get a new phone..

The LG G4 isnt 1 year old yet so logically all phones on the market are still under warranty.

The way they decide the warranty start date is your purchase date. Without any proof of purchase to set the date, they will read the IMEI number and use that to lookup the manufacture date (which will be earlier than the purchase date)

Hi, I am looking to change to LG G4 soon but is there any deep underlying issues that might affect my usage of this phone and has the boot loop issue been resolved?

Thank you!

This thread has lost count on the no. of people affected already. :(

A bro commented some couple of tens of posts back that he sent in and received it back on the same day.

But do expect that it would take a couple of days and have a spare phone just to be safe :)

Hmm, would you want to consider other alternatives such as the V10 / upcoming G5? - G4's reaching 1 year soon - so that would mean that OS updates for it will probably be not as often as what it is right now.

Thing is, there's like a telco switch promotion that is ending soon and V10 seems to be out of my budget range. Don't really mind about the updates, main focus is on the camera.. Can't wait til G5 as a result of the promo. So only worried if G4 has many deep underlying issues even after so long, and I'm getting a totally new set in 2016 so wondering if the issues such as bootloop would affect me

Depends on your appetite for risk. Die die must get LG? You can consider switching over, sell the phone and buy a Xiaomi instead.

Omg.. It seems that the screen retention issue is another problem with G4.. Could it be a design flaw of the Quantum dusplay? I guess nobody will know except LG itself.. I have yet to send mine to the service centre for replacement. Haiz..

the image retention is very faint on mine and only really viewable at max brightness so I think i will let this issue slide for now. Just hope it doesnt worsen cos I'm still holding on to the G4 as I dont see myself going G5 after reading all the MWC info.

Remember to back up your phone in the meantime..

I did not know that my phone was not syncing my contacts with my Google account even though I had saved them under there. So for the past year all the contacts that I had added were not saved and I only found out when I kena the bootloop problem :s22:

Hmm I would think my few options are an LG or an Oppo R7s.. any recommendations for Xiaomi instead? Cause i don't see them better than either the G4 or R7s?

I'm actually not that into Xiaomi phone. I used the Mi Note for a short period of time before I got the G4. All I can say is that xiaomi phones are usable la but it lags.. And I mean really lag when you play games.

As for xiaomi's build quality, I can only say that... You pay for what you get..

That's interesting. That means you have never tried to access your contact from any other devices than your phone? Quite surprising in this connected age.

Seems like i'll go for a G4 i guess from what you've said haha especially since i want a decent camera. I am currently using a Sony Z2 so switching to LG this time round.. sadly can't wait til G5 is out to go for that instead.
