lol if i had a note 7 which risks exploding, I definitely wouldnt be thinking "Boy i sure wish i could exchange this device for a bootlooping G4"

But at least Samsung had the decency to issue recall and replacement. They know it's going to hurt their bottomline and still went ahead.

In comparison, what has LG done for bootloop ;)?

it is the standard practice for any company whose products experience a fault that causes a health/safety hazard. because if you dont do anything, authorities are gonna come after you for endangering safety.

Fault does not cause health/safety hazard? Don't get your hopes up for the company to do anything.

Note 5 pengate --> no mass recall, no fix to affected devices until problem hit

Galaxy S7 Active initial batch found by consumer report to have water resistance issues --> no mass recall, no fix to affected devices until problem hit

yes LG ignored bootloop but thats cos nobody's jeep got burned by a bootloop G4, they only acknowledge after that change.org petition went up. Same as Apple's reluctance to respond to touch disease and retina-gate until after the class action lawsuit. It is the fault of every company and how they do business in the industry.

btw Samsung did actually have their own 'bootloop' incident 4 years ago. Google search Samsung SIII sudden death. Guess what? My SIII died during 2013 chinese new year. I had to spend my overseas trip with no smartphone.
Samsung's reponse:
No mass recall
No fix to affected devices until problem hit.

Yes, boot loop problem.

your first boot loop or multiple times already? if previous boot loop and this time round still within 3mths, you should still be covered under parts warranty (since both are caused by same part-mobo) even though your 12mths for your mobile is over...

What are the odds of being able to claim warranty 1-2 weeks past 12 months?

my case being multiple visits to LG svc centre, they still honor the warranty after like 2 or 3 weeks. guess they also paiseh to reject me since this phone given me a lot of problems.

another visit to the LG svc centre. 4th time as a owner of a new g4 slightly past 12mths old (give it 13mths MAX as i bought it off someone who recon and sold it off).
cam when doing focusing (particularly MF and close up) will have buzzing sounds as tho the shutter broke loose and ball bearing vibration. and also with image on cam moving like seawave. i explaint to front desk and was told they can do a cam replacement n that would be the last wty repair they could honor as on paper my wty expired earlier this mth. worse part he sounded like i finding a fault to smoke them for wty repair as i didnt have enough time to replicate the problem at the desk. he also didnt really bother to find out more n only stated "cam sound when focus".
i went back to collect 1hr later and tested the cam. new one cant even get a close up image focused both in AF & MF, and the seawave problem worsen. rejected and was advised now suspeccted mobo faulty. nb!

btw i came in for lcd faulty with a line, bootloop mobo replaced, sd slot faulty mobo replaced and now this.

LATEST: confirm mobo faulty again. c b. going back to do backup and come back another day to hve the mobo replaced AGAIN for 3rd piece. btw was told mobo no stock now but have reserved 1 for me dont know izt real.

Had my mobo replaced yesterday for the 3rd time all due to different fault. Was there the past 2 days and did observe still quite a plenty walking in for boot loop issues.

F**K, camera having the same issue again, close up (macro) having problem focusing, intermittent buzzing sounds with occasional "seawaves".

2weeks back, after my problem resurfaced again, i called in to ask for mobo stock b4 i go down again. the cso who served me at the frontdesk made a call back to me requesting me to bring it down for diagnosis again, this time asking me to give them 2-3days time to do a further check. i asked for a loan set since i do not have a decent spare phone. on the phone, he offered a 'not high end' smart phone as a loan set. i told him i would visit last week but due to work i didn't.

now guess what? the phone can't make or receive any calls/text by my telco service. can only work by wifi. tested sim card is working on an old phone.

22 July afternoon, went to LG service centre for the boot loop issue.
LG CSO told me estimate 5-7 working days

27 July 8pm, received LG SMS, said my phone is ready for collection.
Will collect tomorrow, hope everything is fine

28 July, collected G4 back. SN 607
use for few hour. so far so good.
seem like the screen a bit brighter.

After change the motherboard, notice the Image retention issue.
Last week, went down LG service centre, the CSO told me , they can service in an hour time.
So I just wait there, drink hot chocolate (they had drink machine provide, complimentary)

They change my LCD and also got a new side (the previous one has tented mark).

I believe, LCD and side are one item.

So far so good.

First time boot loop, so no chance.

Anyone has G4 Bluetooth not streaming to speaker smoothly? My G4 streaming is so bad that it stutters.. while my G3 is good... Using SBR 2 speaker.

What you mean by fast charge it?

the new replacement LCDs may or may not play nice with 3rd party fast chargers

if it doesnt play nice, you'll get a bunch of phantom input syndrome on the screen when its on while fast-charging. I had one charger that was so bad that I couldnt even pass my screen pattern login because the inputs got so disrupted

For some of the starhub users out there, v20c-sea was released on the h818. I took the plunge to install.. So far so good. Android security updated as well so slightly less risk of hacking (imo android is very unsecure). Phone is running cooler and as fast as before, i haven't tried watching vids or doing intensive stuff yet though.

(using a bootloop replaced phone sn60X)

Does anyone have any recommendations for selling the G4 to third-party vendors? I decided against trading in my phone at M1 as they only offered $200 value, and the salesgirl said selling it outside will fetch a higher price?

Is the original box also needed to sell to shops outside, or just normal phone + charger can already?

i roughly see most also trade in around that 200 region only. telco may not be so picky on phone condition. i think only end users would be willing to pay more.
