Does anyone have any recommendations for selling the G4 to third-party vendors? I decided against trading in my phone at M1 as they only offered $200 value, and the salesgirl said selling it outside will fetch a higher price?

Is the original box also needed to sell to shops outside, or just normal phone + charger can already?

for shops yea they usually will deduct from the sell price if you cant provide the box with original charger, cable etc

for 'informal' selling like carousell etc then of course you call the shots and its up to the prospective buyers to decide

is the quality good? so far tried sandisk and samsung all corrupted. cant even format it...:(:s22:

i think its the phone having the problem

incidentally are you running marshmallow

while I was on marshmallow on the G4 I found there are issues with how the phone treats microSD cards related to write access.

I didnt get a corruption issue on my device (though the write access issues were enough to make me swear off MM and revert to lollipop indefinitely), but there were some mentions of MM users who experienced corruption. Problem is, the issue doesnt seem to be getting much traffic so I think it may not be as widespread as bootloop.

at this point i doubt its fixable

ever since marshmallow I've noticed LG's version of android (at least on the G4) treats SD cards weirdly, the SD card doesnt have the usual name like 'SD Card' or 'external_SD' etc when viewed by programs instead its an 8-character hexadecimal string (this appears in the G5 as well). And a freshly mounted SD card somehow always shows last modified date as 1/1/1970

its most likely some sort of security related thing that LG is doing but i feel it's very sloppily done and not consistent with industry best practices. Most notably for my case being that even with Storage Access Framework pretty much every 3rd party app on my G4 had write access problems to the SD card when I tried marshmallow on the G4. Luckily this doesnt happen to the marshmallow on my parent's G5 or my whole family will be ready to jump back to Samsung because improper SD card functionality is an instant dealbreaker.

i guess im lucky my device at least didnt corrupt any of my SD cards but hearing the service centre say they cant do anything about the numerous SD card issues is very disheartening (and really reinforces that LG probably has one of the worse software teams in the android phone industry)

the new replacement LCDs may or may not play nice with 3rd party fast chargers

if it doesnt play nice, you'll get a bunch of phantom input syndrome on the screen when its on while fast-charging. I had one charger that was so bad that I couldnt even pass my screen pattern login because the inputs got so disrupted
Its not just the new screens..I've never replaced my screens but I've had issues with phantom input when charging with or without fast charging.

booting issue again - but doesn't loop?

i sent my G4 in for bootloop issue fix late last year, all was working fine until few days ago.

But this time it doesn't loop, just show the android screen with LG logo, then a few sec black out. can only take out battery.

so now i dunno isit same root cause, especially when symptom is slightly different, and also mine was supposedly fixed.

my warranty over for like 3 mths already, anyone in same situation? Should I just go LG svc centre kaobeh?

I just sent to neighbourhood ah beng shop for diagnosis/fix/help or see whatever they can do, since I thought warranty over liao....

I just got back my G4 back today, I sent into Service Center for repair last Friday due to Bootloop issue, and on Monday they SMS me that it is ready for collection.

My warranty was over and they offered to repair it for free for the first time. not sure about your case since you repaired it before..

What is your serial number of your G4, does it started with 60?

looks like bootloop issue is not fixed for 512 batch motherboard..

SN512 means the motherboard was manufactured on 2015 Dec.

not sure if this issue is fully fixed now until we see 6XX serial numbers getting in to bootloop issue.

OK update...

I just sent in to LG for servicing, the guy said my batch still affected, and they will replace 1 more time for free even if out of warranty for me.

So yeah. I guess I dont trust LG mobile anymore after this debacle
