ever since my mobo replaced the first time due to bootloop, whenever i delete any photos on my sd card via quickpic gallery it keep says restrictions to remove bla bla. problem la...
and then after my sd card slot became faulty i came to realise i have few hundreds of taken photos became 0kb in size. they r corrupted i believe. now spending time attempting n doing recovery. headache la all the time spent on these.

Hi, for your 0kb issue, is it when u try to plug the phone into computer and view? For me that is what i get, but if i unmounted the SD card i can directly insert it into the PC and view all contents as nornal.

I can still view the files on the phone itself and i have tried things like dropbox upload or moving the files to a USB otg thumb drive and those still work.

Im at the service centre now so i will see how LG handles this issue.

Lg have done it before. G flex 2 first sd 810 smartphone its innovation when putting the phone in the pocket for the first time it felt like u can fried a egg in ur pocket.

I think thats the problem of Qualcom that caused overheating for phone makers until they fix it in version 2.1. Its just LG unlucky to be the world first to use that processor back then. Hopefully don't fly the private parts. Good for hand warmer though for colder countries. Lol.

I dun think unlucky Flex 2 users can get the processor changed to the later version or change the logic board for that matter.

first time hear jiayu brand. i dun like the buttons below cos i prefer back button to b on left side

I only came across this brand 2 weeks back while comparing budget to mid-tier phones. This stood out for me as its got everything I need and more for a budget backup phone under SGD$250. Reviews are good too mostly, 5 stars. Its like my previous Xiaomi but with better specs. Lastly, apologies I know this is a G4 thread.. =:p

Finished my service centre visit.

They confirmed that this is not an issue exclusive to my device when they took out their own test unit and it has the same symptoms as mine when using 3rd party apps.

However they need time to investigate the software and see what is the root cause.

My best guess is still something to do with how LG implemented MM. Maybe their apps watermark the files to be readable by PC or something.

I only hope they dont think its not an issue because of the symptoms affecting only 3rd party apps and not their own apps.

On the bright side the guy i got for this service case was a lot more tech savvy than the one who handled my 505 case. He was able to say that the 505 thing wasnt because of 505 mobo per se but simply the entire initial batch of phones with the connector issue.

Went to the service centre this morning. Was told 7 working days for replacement. I explained I had contacted LG directly and had arranged the motherboard to be replaced on the 15th with a 1hr wait.

Staff checked in the back n replied ok. I'm waiting for collection now.

So, for others still on 505, recommend you to submit a support request via LGs website. Arrange a call from support, pick a day to have your working 505 mobo replaced on the spot.

Edit: Collected, mobo is 601.

Hi, do you know if lg is only allowing this for the 505 batch or is there a cut off like 507?

Did he elaborate anything more on the connector issue? Entire initial batch affected? If that is the case, I think I better go down for a change.

No he didnt elaborate.

The problem is we dont have enough statistical info to know if its a global issue. There could be a silent majority who also use the initial batch but didnt hit any problems. We dont know if the problem arises only after you use the phone beyond a certain amount

I don't know. I would recommend going here https://www.lg.com/sg/support/message-customer-support and filling out the form to ask them. They called me the next day to tell me I could go to the service centre for a replacement on the spot, they just needed to know when I could go down (I guess to allocate the replacement parts).

How long have you had your phone before it fails? 6 months?

Well I did that and received a rather disappointing reply.

I had my phone since launch day, and it died in late Dec. Base on the forum activity here, most people had the bootloop from late Nov onwards.

For my case, I had the phone reboot by itself on a few occasions before it finally hit the permanent bootloop.

Side note on MM usage so far, V20c seems to have only improved the battery on standby/idle. When using the phone especially on LTE it still feels like the battery endurance is worse than lollipop days.

I keep getting the permission error to delete files on the microSD card as well. When I tried another app called "Piktures", it is able to delete files without any issue, I guess it could be a quickpic bug.. :(

Damn. Sorry folks. I emailed them as soon as they made an announcement about the failure ...

I'm aware of the bootloop issue which seems to plague this batch (and others). Currently my phone is not affected by this issue.

Now LG has acknowledged there is a hardware defect in the G4.

http://www.androidauthority.com/lg-admits-g4-bootloop-problem-hardware-fault-669603/

Can I bring my G4 to the service centre to have this issue corrected now before it occurs when I am out of the country and not in a position to have it fixed.

Hope that helps but maybe I was just lucky

Simply disgusted at their double standards. The worst part is that the bootloop occurs without warning. So it is a major inconvenience. Unless Lg actually reveals what batches are affected, we are left to just wait and see. If wait and see and it happens after warranty, it becomes our liability.

Allowing us to swap our boards gives us some control in preventing such inconvenience. It's utterly ridiculous for lg to insist its not a batch issue and provide us no remedy short of it bootlooping during the warranty period.

Just wishful thinking on my part that they will be more transparent with regards to determining which units are affected.

Went with the G4 because of micro SD support. Guess with the rumour return of SD to Samsung devices I will be jumping ship. Lg handling of this fiasco leaves much to be desired. Even though I have YET to experience the bootloop, my experience with lg support leaves me with no confidence in purchasing future lg products.

Rival products may not have revolutionary features such as rumour lg g5, but at least I am certain that their after sales services would not be as horrendous as Lg's.

after that sd slot failed, i did a backup of my sd card content to my pc. and when i browsed through realised some of those camera taken photos are 0kb and opened to display nothing. then after getting the mobo replaced for the defective sd slot, i browsed my camera folder stored on my sd mounted via my hp also same. they will open to a blank black image.

wah that's f**ked. so many sh!t problems happened and to remedy now. my SD card has slotted to my pc for 2days liao and still not done with the recovery. zzzzz.
the funny thing is when quickpic asked to select the root SD card folder, i selected but it didnt solve the problem. despite the alert appearing everytime i delete a pic on my sdcard, it does get deleted. just annoying.
