I jus got G6 this phone. I have been trying to train my ok google voice, but nothing is happening. However, when manually activate google assistance by pressing home button, it could pick up my voice without issue. Any advice appreciated :)

Spec is exactly the same.

Picture below is of G6+ but the colors are the same.

Are you having problem during training or activating it? I find that I need to either speak quite loud or put the mic near my mouth for it to activate.

Long pressing home button to activate google assistant is working fine. It could pick up my voice pretty well.

However, during training where I need to speak Ok Google 3 times, it could not pick up my voice totally. Hence without completing the training, I can't activate google assistant without touching phone.

I'm not going to be stupid and say Samsung products are not good in terms of hardware and software additions. But they are expensive and some parts won't appeal to those who place substance over flash.

I just bought a black G6 to try try. I surprisingly like it a lot.

Only thing though, is the camera focus on the main cam is not accurate at times. Anyone encounter that the image on the viewfinder is clearly out of focus, but yet the green dots appear to indicate the image is in focus? I've had quite a few shots ruined because of this, esp in night shooting, where the images are out of focus when viewed on computer screen.

Yup, experienced this many times. Also experienced, looks fine on phone, but looks out of focus on comp. The focus is quite finicky & tricky IMO. I also experienced this on the colour/sharpness, looks fine on phone, but not on comp. Really hard to trust it to give WYSIWYG result.

Facebook lite VS Facebook, which should I use? Not sure if lite will really help with battery life or not.

Actually, same issue even with touch to focus. Gotta wait for a bit even after it "beeps". It's blurred if the shutter button is pressed immediately.

Thanks, I thought my set is defective and at least can send for repair. A bummer that this appears to be a widespread issue because I bought this phone to replace my HTC 10 which has exactly the same finnicky focus issues. I hate to second guess the camera every time I shoot auto, and in day-to-day, there's usually not much time to fiddle with manual settings to get the shot you want.

I don't know is it my expectation too high after having been spoiled by the ultra reliable autofocus of the S8 and U11 which never misses.

From my experience, even after the phone has supposedly locked focus and beeped, the image is still out of focus and you need to try 2-3 times before it focus properly (if it does at all). I don't really mind slow focus as long as it's accurate, but the G6 autofocus in low light seems to be slow AND inaccurate - double negative there.

May I know which apps are good for shooting auto? Do the same focus problems persist using these apps?

every app has its pros and cons, i currently use Open Camera, Snap Camera, Footej and Proshot

What LG calls 'autofocus' is what many 3rd party apps call 'continuous focus' and it is the behaviour whereby any motion on the phone will cause the camera to refocus (and thats where I think sometimes it gets problematic). The most noticeable fault is when shooting macro, if you shoot anything nearer than 5cm to the camera, focus is impossible due to the focal length, etc, but if you tap to focus and it remainsblur, the app actually declares a focus lock.

I havent really stress tested autofocus since I immediately switch to manual if auto is having trouble, but can definitely feel that autofocus is not very satisfactory. On all my 3rd party camera apps, autofocus fails to work when shooting in manual. On some apps like proshot, tap to focus doesnt work, etc.

Really hoping LG can fix their camera drivers in an update, so far its been 2 months and no updates yet.

Shame they cut out the laser from the older phones, think that might have helped in focusing.
