This is my wild guess: When you purchase the phone, the official receipt itself covers only 1 yr. Then you need to go to LG website to register the phone in order to get the additional extra year?

But I wonder what kind of coverage does the extra 1 year of warranty covers.

T&C not known yet, so better wait for next week to hear more news. I was told that there will be more promotions coming up. LG is serious to win market share.

Any audiophiles here with multi ba iems can help test the LG G6's DAC and compare it with the V20?

According to the lg sg website, it states that the G6 will have the ESS 9218+ DAC. The LG V20 has the ESS 9218 non plus variant. So I'm wondering if there are any difference in sound quality? From what I'm seeing, LG is promoting the G6's DAC far lesser then the V20. They have also not stated if the DAC comes with an amp or not. So there may be a chance that they just shove in the quad dac without much circuitry or sound optimization causing the sound quality to not be as good as the v20

Another thing is the 3 AOP mics on the V20 have now been reduced to just 2 AOP mics on the G6. According to the screenshots on the lg g6 webpage, it does not allow any sound re-direction capabilities like what was seen on the V20.

Correct, there is no option to adjust mic direction on the G6.

When can we see actual units of G6? Samsung related their S8 about 4.5 weeks after the G6 but their phones are already available in the shops to test..... Not everyone comes here or go online search about the latest phones. I know of people who just recontracted and bought a S7 Edge last month not knowing there are newer models just round the corner.

The availability of phones to get consumers attention in the shops is very important, and this is where Apple and Samsung are streets ahead of the rest

Interesting, you received a Korean model. I read that the USB C is only 2.0 speed? It like the USB 3.0 speed on the V20?

All smartphones sold by telcos are warranty by respective manufacturers, so yes they all will enjoy additional year warranty too.

Yes it is dual SIM.

It comes with Quad DAC.

I know all these because I am one of the independent reviewers that received LG G6 in advance and they have shared these info with me, plus the press release also stated the specs which I have published on my blog article:
http://musicphotolife.com/2017/04/lg-g6-singapore-launch-review/

If there are any errors, LG would issue another statement to correct it, hence I take it as final.

Both V20 and G6 speed are 2.0, not 3.0.

Your info incorrect on V20, it is USB 3.0 speed

Did u test the speed or read from the spec? Test the speed with a true USB 3.1 Gen 1 cable?

Lg did say v is the flagship, not g series

Did LG say G series will not have USB 3.1 Gen 1 because they only reserve it for flagship V series? I can't understand your logic here when G series is a premium phone (read not flagship).

There are G5 users who reported having 72MBps or 562mbps transfer speed, above the 480mbps USB 2.0 spec and way above the norm of 35MBps real world USB 2.0 speed.

Where is your logic?

OK I have done test with the USB 3.0 Type-C cable and am pleased to conclude that the LG V20 and LG G6 achieves the same transfer speed. I tested with a 606MB file and achieved around 7 seconds. The speed is identical to the data transfer to my external 2.5-inch USB3 HDD which I tested along side.

Using the same USB 3.0 cable, I tested on the Huawei P10+ and achieved 15 seconds.

In comparison, when I used the charging cable in the box, a 405MB file took 11 seconds to transfer to P10+. LG V20 and G6 took about 10 seconds.

Hope this helps. Bookmark this post! http://musicphotolife.com/2017/04/test-usb-transfer-speed-lg-g6-huawei-p10-plus/

TL;DR
- LG G6 and V20 supports USB 3.0 transfer speed, I tested it hits 78MB/s, same as USB 3.0 external HDD

- Huawei P10+ does not support USB 3.0 transfer speed, I tested it reaches 38MB/s with USB 3.0 cable
