guys,

G6 has an AOD display similar to Samsung, but since the screen is LCD and not amoled, doesn't this cause the battery power to drop since an LCD screen can't light specific pixels and keep the rest off?

Actually my battery was still okay with AOD on. I don't keep it on all night though. I'm not sure if it's like the V10. I remember for v10 they use a separate light source for that second display to keep power consumption low. I kinda have a feeling they might be doing the same thing here? Instead of using the whole panel to light up just the AOD, maybe they have a separate smaller back light just for that area to keep power consumption even lower.

Just my speculation. haha. For me it's useful enough to be worth the tiny bit of extra drain.

honestly ive not been hearing much good things about the samsung S8 battery life so its like whatever efficiency there is with amoled, the bulk of the battery drain from the OS and its skin will still dominate

if AMOLED gave that big a battery boost, one could achieve far superior battery life using a pure black wallpaper and lock screen

Actually the amoled screen does confer advantage when used with black lockscreen and home screen though in most cases, the smaller battery and larger screen negates any advantage compared with LCD on G6

See the link below of this guy on phonedog who did just that. He removed all apps from his home screen and used a largely black homscreen. He accessed his frequent apps using the edge tab

Guys, are you using any other launcher on the G6?
I am on nova and I can't find the square camera app, calendar widget doesnt work with it and double tap to sleep doesn't work. Anyone else have such issues?

Double tap on status/notification bar, won't work on home screen if you intend to use LG's double tap to sleep.

Maybe at home screen, leave out 1 icon app, create blank space just for double tap. I do that on my v20.:)
