Camera is a big win for me between OP5 and G6. Wide angle is way more useful for me personally.

If based on smartphone processor speed, and sleekness, then OP5 wins.

seems that have 18 months of warranty if local set. 1 year official warranty plus 6 months additional warranty exclusive on Lazada.

So are you saying the G6, with its warranty inclusive, and its current price is not too ex?

IMO when seeking a purchase, set a budget and a list of 'must-have' features (whether warranty or other stuff like dual sim, microSD, etc). Anything that dont meet both the budget and the features list, dont even consider it.

If there's features that are 'good to have', those should not be the top concern since the lack of them wouldnt be dealbreakers

I will "never settle" no-warranty electronic gear more than $x. Cheap stuff no warranty nvm, throw away.

18 months is a long period, especially for phones. It will also increase resale value if you think of selling off, giving the new owner assurance that any fault can still be serviced for free.

But LG G6 2 year warranty is even more assuring. Hopefully the LG V30 also comes with 2 years!

Agreed...however..its a matter of what you really need... I prefer the G6 because of the 2 year warranty.. Camera and ip68..haha

I read front camera quality sucks??? I dun really take selfie but cannot let it stop any girls taking quality selfie pic with me

I love to have ip68 in my phone but the last time I got Z1, the speaker quality n volume very very bad. Does G6 got same issue?

Front camera is OK for me..not really fantastic..good enough.. I prefer the rear camera..better..haha

I've never used a Z1 so can't really comment. However in noisy outdoor places I can play youtube videos on my G6 and still hear the sound clearly so not an issue.

I was using a G4 previously which was louder and surprisingly the selfie camera was better. The front cam on G6 really isn't that good but overall it's a much better phone than the G4.

Yes the front camera isn't great. But you let the girl take the selfie with her iPhone 7 then what's app you the photo. You have a better photo and her number. All part of LG's plan to make your life good.

I would say the ffc on the G6 is distinctly below average for me. Esp in low light.

yes the LG G6 front camera is 'not good'. LG has never been a selfie-focused company, if selfie quality is a necessary factor pls never buy a LG and go look at huawei or oppo instead

I dont know... strangely for me I find that even the rear camera on G6 has surprising levels of disappointment when shooting low light (outdoor night shots, not indoor). It's mainly due to their software oversharpening issue again, the same thing that cause me a lot of misery with my ISO50 fireworks shots during NDP rehearsals (FYI no the problem wasnt fixed in the recent V10d update)

For instance look at the 2 pics:

Both are shot in auto, around ISO1400 and 1/20s shutter on the G6. The picture on the right is what it looks like when you shoot in auto on any camera app out there including the stock app. The one on the left can only be produced by 1 of my apps shooting in a very specific mode, you can really see the difference in the 'noise'

IMO anyone buying G6 for low light photography still has to learn the rule which is "if you wanna shoot auto better to get a samsung. LG needs to shoot in manual"

The night mode on Snap Camera (its not a free app im using the 8.2.7 version from XDA)

How do you get this mode? I never heard of it, I did have something similar on the G4 when I shoot in auto, and the camera forces HDR if the scene is low light (even if HDR is disabled), and it can be easily observed cos the filename has HDR and EXIF lacks ISO value

EDIT: nevermind I found it, its inside Auto mode not Manual mode (since my phone is always in manual, when I want to shoot auto, I simply toggle AE-L)

This trick is probably similar to HDR in that it takes multiple shots and averages their exposure

LG phones are totally locked down. You will never be able to root your phone to block ads and uninstall their bloatware..
