Another thing to note, some apps like WhatsApp uses only the wide angle camera when you try to take a photo in app. Others like Instagram only uses the standard lens..

Does the proshot have wide angle too?

sadly no. Opencamera and Snap Camera are the only 3rd party apps I know that can toggle the wide angle camera. Hopefully with the Note 8, more app developers will build in functions to access dual cameras.

this is why its no trivial matter to get into using 3rd party apps, you have to understand all their different idiosyncracies like camera FV5 works perfect on the G4 but crap on the G6, or how on the G6 if you open Proshot while the phone is landscape, the app doesnt open in landscape and you need to re-orient the whole phone to get the app properly in landscape

can be quite sad to buy an app then realise it isnt optimised for the current phone u are using. at least opencamera is still free

I'll play around with apps and keep the thread alive. I'm back to use the stock camera app for now, can't seem to find any that can replace it yet..

honestly stock is fine, many would agree stock is actually the most optimal app to use cos it leverages the camera driver software in the most proper way, while 3rd party apps only (maybe) touch on the Camera2 API which is the universal component in android but doesnt give support for "special" things like toggling between dual cameras

also the ecosystem of 3rd party camera apps out there is mostly gimmicky ones that are more for inserting filters and overlays... the 'social media fluff', I wouldnt really blame ppl for not ever wanting to venture to that territory just to find a decent app.

Just a short question, any good editing apps for video? I like using quik app but I'm looking for any more functional app on the go.

just curious if I brought a RX100 to shoot F1 and said i was not satisfied with the performance will u be like "what did u expect from a cybershot, get a decent mirrorless like the A6500 for god sake"

...cos i remember very well when i was remarking about the ISO 50 artifacting on my G6's main lens that showed up when I shot NDP rehearsal fireworks, you actually did literally comment:

...so im not sure is your way of participating in the discussion simply to keep recommending smartphone photographers to convert to using 'more high end' cameras? Cos I think those among us who are ok with lugging around a camera would already have bought one

My point of view = General Consumer

some guys here insist on manual shooting ... wtf... wah lao is like buying a rangefinder, I must adjust this and that to take a nice shot. :p

General Consumer just want to snap a nice shot.... later instagram(or whatever app) will settle the rest

LG G6 wasnt marketed this way, hey users "please use manual mode"

... so is good to tell general consumer... the camera sucks, it is not a good point and shoot camera(especially at low light situation)

I'm planning to get a camera phone with wide angle for upcoming family holiday. Torn between G6 and V20. Anyone can enlighten which is better in terms of camera and battery usage (will be used mostly for pictures and videos).

Owned both device before (not same time), but forgot already how they perform. Lol

Thanks.

Out of camera, imo G6 looks better in colors.

IMO they are quite similar. Since you mention holiday do remember that LG selfie quality isnt as good as competitor brands, if that is a point u need to take note of

The V20 may be a little bit better than the G6 in image quality cos right now G6 still has oversharpening issues (and V20 main sensor is bigger), but the G6 wide angle is very likely better than the C20

Battery wise definitely G6 better, however I always believe that u can carry a powerbank if your phone need more power, but if your camera is less good, nothing on earth that you plug into that USB port will improve the camera quality, so dont worry too much about battery and focus on camera performance

For selfies, i have my S8 to do that. I'm looking for capturing more the sceneries via wide angle.

Thanks for the input. I'm leaning towards V20, plus is the replaceable battery. Con is the big size.

Replaceable battery only an advantage if u literally carry spare batteries around. Personally I dont favour that, cos it is easier to recharge a powerbank than a battery (batteries cant be plugged into an outlet and they require a specialised charger)

Also this is just my opinion but image quality on LG's wide angle cameras still cant match the main camera. I currently use a G6 and recently at the Gardens by the Bay mid autumn exhibits I actually ignored its wide angle lens and clipped on my own wide lens to the main lens, cos the aperture on the built in wide lens just wasn't cutting it for handheld low light shots.

So depending how particular you are about image quality or whether you forsee the need to do night shots with the wide lens, also need to keep it in mind. At least if the scene has some lighting you can still shoot in manual.

Please help!!!

Hello everyone,
I’m new here. I’ve just bought my LG G6 a week ago from a man who recontracted with Singtel. Reason I wanted to buy it is because I want to try Android (used Windows Phone and currently using iPhone 6S). What I want to ask is who can I register for the additionally 12 month guarantee by LG?
The seller did provide me the recept from Singtel. Am I able to register the guarantee under my name while the name on recept is of the seller?
Hope someone can help me. Thank you!
