finally emailed LG and they confirmed Smart Doctor cant have its notifications disabled. They even said, and I quote:

"The notifications from Smart Doctor are suggestions to help optimise phone usage"

So im basically now getting at least 2-3 notifications a week from smart doctor telling me that stuff like Swiftkey "has not been used in a month but still consume memory". Like seriously can you imagine the sheer stupidity of a 'smart' doctor app to misdiagnose a feature that I literally use every day.

sounds very trivial but getting spammed by notifications can really grate on one's nerves over time. Once again I am contemplating whether to do what I did with the G4 and factory reset and permanently hold off all OTAs indefinitely. Or maybe theres some way to get rid of the app via ADB, like doing the adb shell pm uninstall command

Open Smart Doctor >> Diagnose >> click the "3 dots" (top right corner) >> Notifications >> Turn off Diagnosis Results

if u want to buy a phone why does its popularity matter? unless you're thinking of resell value which for all LG devices the answer by default is the value is mediocre.

do note the Mate 9 is a phablet and is an entirely different form factor, the G6 competes more closely with the huawei P series.

im not referring to popularity la. if depend on popular i wont b considering those 2 phones. wat im saying is it not gd? ppl stop using or sold their sets?

i don mind the form factor. looking at the specs. P series cost a lot more than the g6. so thats y im comparing it to mate9.

I don't have such issues. Whatsapps all come in on time and sometimes even faster than on my friend's samsung phone. Only complaint about the latest sw is the poor battery life.

In summary the G6 is still good. Unless you feel that being still stuck on Android 7.0 is a 'very bad' thing cos yea the G6 here hasnt even gotten to 7.1 yet

I think these days with phones coming out fast, ppl can sell a phone even though it is still good, but even something just slightly newer or slightly more powerful can make them instantly want to drop another 800 to 1000 bucks

Yes, the mate 10 with launch price of $888 is pretty attractive. After a while price drop will be very attractive. :)

Anyway I got a g6 against the mate 9. The mate is heavier and screen only fhd?
I'll say go for whatever makes you happy.

Not sure why one would wary about bootloop issue if it's got 2 years warranty. I would understand if it's out of warranty.

Waste time whenever something as important as phone is down. Need to go down to service centre to fix the phone.

Anyone feel like after updating to latest fw, battery life has decreased? I feel that my sot is shorter given the same usage and the phone gets noticeably warmer. But overall speed and fluidity seems to have improved

Just updated. Anything new?

Its only the usual security stuff, so yes we are still on android 7.0

Any problems after the update? Wary of boot loop problems. Bad experience with G4.

The update is only 1-2 day old

Problems like the bootloop saga took over 6 months to manifest.

The bootloop wasn't even a software issue (else they wouldn't have to replace the whole motherboard to fix it). My G4 spent all of 2016 with no software updates cos I wanted to avoid marshmallow back then, and in Nov 2016 it still bootlooped.
