front is small for u but why u did not set bigger?font can be set is the display setting

seems like update is on the way......font really too small for me to read, especially the one at the top.

The new Android-based firmware also increases the default size of the home screen font used by the LG G7 ThinQ so as to make it easier to read, according to Verizon’s official changelog. The handset has been updated with a custom music equalizer setting as well, allowing users to fine-tune the audio playback performance of LG’s 2018 flagship. To access the new tool, launch the system Settings app, navigate to the “Sound” interface, select the “Sound quality and effects” option, and tap the “Equalizer” button on the following screen. The time format selected in the Settings app is now also reflected on the Weather app pre-installed on the LG G7 ThinQ, delivering a more consistent user experience regardless of whether users prefer the 24-hour format or the 12-hour one.

The default Calendar app of the device has also been improved and now allows users to sync event additions with existing tasks or files, whereas the phablet’s Camera app now supports Google’s AR Stickers, just like the South Korean tech giant promised in June. Verizon is distributing the new LG G7 ThinQ update as a conventional over-the-air package that’s likely to take at least a week until it becomes available to all owners of the Android flagship in the United States.

the plus model is only higher storage.. it didn't say the rest are changed..

could be wrong.. just want to make sure as feels like LG G7 got murdered in there review.

hi anyone read anandtech's review of the phone? maybe someone can share if the review is true?

i looked at the article and dont seem to find anything major sticking out.

At most the review says:

- the colour calibration is bad in terms of accuracy

- the camera is disappointing (as a LG user i wont be surprised on this cos they have not really produced any major camera improvements since the V20)

I don't own a G7 but looking at those low light samples it kind of reminds me of the G6 and V30, those were 2 phones that relied heavily on a noise reduction filter (you can toggle it in settings) to ensure RGB noise was under control for low light. This is what produces the watercolour effect. When I tried turning off the noise reduction filter, there was too much RGB noise

this is the V30 which I tried last year at the ion orchard roadshow. Shooting at only a mere ISO 200 with the noise reduction filter off you can see how much noise on the black roof in the scene.

I will say that until LG bumps its sensor size up to par with samsung/huawei, it's to be assumed their camera image quality in low light is now on a plateau ever since the V20.

thanks chiarH, I know there are some guys here who cycles between new phone releases and test them whether it fits their use cases.

I asked the previous question because I thought LG has made things differently for the G7 but it seems like it is still similar old stuff under new marketing. I was actually more of the LG brand before I switch to samsung s7, now I have this phone for benchmark before switching.

but regarding the color accuracy, has there been remedies for it even for v30?

Yes you have colour sliders for LG display setting so you can manual tweak unlike many brands that only have like 'natural vs vivid' type of hard presets

IMO phone innovations have stagnated by now so every brand is more or less similar old stuff under new marketing. What is there left to improve for LG, other than the things that we know somehow LG dont seem to want to improve (battery has hovered around 3000 mAh for 4+ years, speaker still mono bottom firing, camera still stuck on a puny 1/3" sensor, software updates are still slow despite their efforts, you can still crack the mil-std certified glass if you drop it in some unlucky orientation)

The G7 has a notch and has a boombox feature. The selfie camera is no longer mediocre. Thats really it for improvement.

We are all victims of hyperconsumerism. There is no need to refresh phones every year, but companies are forced to launch new versions. Last time, where got new phones come out every year one, and in running numbers? Look at Nokia, Motorola, Ericsson of the past. Look at audio headphones today, also never got new models every year, just one every few years.

LG finally breaks the tradition by launching G7 later. I hope they take their time to launch the next V-series.

Personally used a LG G7+ ThinQ and i have to say its an excellent phone. Anybody buying it won't be disappointed. I don't know why review websites i have seen generally try to knock it down.

Made in Korea too.

Agreed, maybe LG didnt "pay" them money to write a good review. But overall, I am still happy with the phone. :D

Hi all,

I will like to do my part for community sharing.

For those who complain about LG G7 colors. You may want to try out my color calibration settings.

Let me know what u guys think after making changes. The G7 screen allows very fine tuning to color accuracy.

Settings-> Screen color-> select Expert -> click on Gear icon

Saturation - lvl 1
Hue- lvl 3
Color filter - Disabled

Color Temperature - lvl 1
Red - Max level all the way to the right
Green - Max level all the way to right
Blue - Lowest level all the way to the left

I like G7 also, but I feel other than the improved camera quality, overall compared to V30 there is no major changes. As a phone, it works solid, but reviewers have little time and they usually look for the wow factor.
