just wondering how serious is the image retention aka burn in problem in OLED?

same problem as plasma tv?

Is it because of this problem, which deter samsung, sony, other brands from doing OLED?

same. 49" tv and $300 ntuc voucher (provided by LG agent) cannot be used to offset the tv.

Best can trade TV $600. Gain city at Marina square can trade in TV and vouchers. Vouchers is choices not ntuc.

Now i think not as good as earlier this year cos the free TV price have lowered and cannot fetch that high. You can wait you wait lor, new gen coming soon. TV prices can only go down.

ya. i called best denki also. they quoted $3999 with tv and $300 voucher, both can be used to trade-in to offset the tv which will cost $3099.

i asked HN why so fast OOS, because they only order less units. so i thinking even in the future it would not have promotion due to clearing of stocks. maybe only have promotion for display units.

I've been watching a fair bit of football with static logos with no issues at all.As long as you don't leave your tv with a static image in torch mode for hours on end, you don't have to worry.

Plasmas, on the other hand, are a little more delicate.

Actually, image retention and burn in are 2 separate things. Former is temporary, latter is permanent.

Btw, Sony, Philips and Panasonic have all launched their own OLEDs this year. I believe all buy their panels from LG and differentiate their offerings on the software and image processing end.

Because Samsung cannot get good production yield from their manufacturing process and LG also owns most of the key patents associated with OLED.

sharing this:
55b6t with freebies: 49" tv/swivel wall mount/$300 choice voucher
price:$3849*
Best Denki Junction 8

*Initially I browsed the "Please post your purchase prices.." section and I took note of Shawn from HN Hougang Mall. I called Shawn but 55b6t is already OOS in Harvey Norman. I asked for his help to find me one that I could buy within the day and he linked me to BD Junction 8.

Shawn can help you if you're having difficulty getting a 55b6t as stocks are running out. Pm me if you need his help so I can give his contact number. You can also try your luck and go straight to any BD and ask for the price as I've bought them today.

was offered a 65" C series display set for $3,800

can buy?

this will be a lot more quicker: call HN Hougang Mall, look for Shawn (i asked for Shawn in charge of LG TV's). He might be able to help.

I was able to buy what I had planned from the start, at a pricepoint that was as low as those who adviced here in hwz had anticipated (now being March). The welcome surprise here is Shawn went out of his way to finally make it all happen.
