There's a spider on my LG LCD TV

The LG technician was adamant that it was due to physical contact. Wasn't given the benefit of the doubt. Tsk.

Owners of LM6700 and perhaps other models too, better be extra careful with the front element (glass?) of the TV. When I hit it with the PS3 controller earlier, I'd reckon even the technician was surprised that it didn't take much force to "crack" the insides of the TV.

oh my, hope my new tv don't crack by itself like that.

I surely hope you don't run into this issue. It's a no-win situation for you.

To make things worse, it appears that this isn't an isolated incident. Others also faced the same issue -- albeit with a different brand and/or model.

Did the TV arrive already pre-assembled with the stand?
Is there any mounting screw near the first spider?

i think i saw some light exposure on my top right hand side of my LM6410 also. :(

And i can't seem to find the control for 3D depthness as well, can anyone tell me where is it?

The most i can do is only convert 2D to 3D and its not even entirely converted, meaning i take off the 3D glass i can view it clearly too with my naked eyes!

And the FTA channels is really lousy in pic quality. sighz... :(

anyone pro can help?

once you ON the 3D, go to Settings -> 3D settings from there you change the depth.

Wow.. Thought its a ips panel? Salesman told me ips panel is reason why lg tv is very -sturdy-....
Anyway solve the fta channel issue. Setting to jus scan did the trick

The bigger the panel, the weaker it can take the impact, especially it is hit around the center area. Now a day the TV frame work is so thin, hardly able to build a strong support behind it.

No to both. The Courts Tampines staff missed doing the installation so we did it on our own (not a big deal). There's no screw near the lower left spider.

Played winning eleven on my 55lm6410 and the ghosting is quite bad. Is this due to the high refresh rate? Any idea whether there is any setting to reduce it?

Followed up with the technician. Was told the panel replacement will be at S$963 inclusive of GST.

I don't really mind paying that up if he even bothered to check the TV. I told him this earlier and he said "no need to open the TV. not necessary. confirmed due to user error". I quizzed him about the other similar cases and he wouldn't comment at all. Told that "yesterday, you were 100% sure that the LCD won't crack on its own. And now you're not gonna comment?", he just said "I will never be wrong".

Really pissed. Worst case is that I'll probably pay up still and just sell the damned thing.

LG = Never again.

Is clear enough, do not need to open as glasse may start to fall all over the place.
Dont try your luck, just pay and have it repair or buy a new set.

Yup. Wifey said just have it repaired then sell it (coz she don't want to see the TV and be reminded of the horror we went through).

If anybody's interested in getting the TV please PM me or check the details here

Thanks.

Not sure if this thread is helpful for your case:
My 42" LG Plasma screen cracked.

Interesting cases and ideas in there, e.g. challenge LG to say that you will engage professionals to analyze the glass and send the bill to them if they confirm that it is due to glass defect. Then again, dunno who in SG are qualified glass engineers...
