I also bought the 4tb Lexar nm790. It's not a "rubbish" china brand because it actually uses YMTC nand that Apple was planning to use before YMTC was placed on the entity list and Xiaomi 14 is currently using. The ssd controller by Maxio isn't the best, but the price can't be beat for 4tb.

I also bought the same cause its cheap..although i did not have the $50 voucher (used the $8 every $80)..good enough for my kid's mid range PC

To me I find the warranty and MTBF vs endurance iffy, and the obvious cable, hehe.

How is your experience with the Ares ? This is the only one that stuck out to me on taobao (cost wise and sorta quality). Reading these 2023 posts makes me think why I didn't buy higher capacity nvmes at that time. Lazada all that is considered kinda good is 400+, nvm there is no stock.

Sorry to revive an old thread. Did you try the Lexar Ares from Taobao?

If u want the ares go for it. Basically a lexar nm790 clone which is exclusive to china.

Some other alternatives to it would be biwin nv7400, Acer gm7. All clones of lexar nm790.
