I remove my earlier post about Samsung SSD prices cuz now the prices went up.
So now Samsung SSD prices is slightly diff from few months ago.
500GB is still around $5X, 1TB under $100, 2TB around $18X.

Still cheap in my opinion.

3) Powerev - Asgard/Gloway - Buys chips from YMTC Asgard is the premium line, Gloway is the value line
Search 阿斯加特旗舰店 or gloway数码旗舰店 on taobao

The rest of china ssds have unknown quality chips therefore unknown reliability

If buy just for games drive, shld be ok? Looking at 2TB, sata drives also can. I saw PNY CS900 2TB at $113. Similarly priced with taobao ssds as they are around $100 +/-.

those with seller warranty are export set, claiming warranty from them is hard or went mia.
technically, 500gb is more than enough for os and software.
Just that, nowadays nvme is so cheap..... getting 1tb/2tb is much worth. tbh, 1tb is just nice for primary drive.
if u requires more storage, u can upgrade in the future.

It is the games installation that is pushing the need for more space lar... CS already 33.63GB.... Total War Warhammer III 112.8GB.... BF2042 79.2GB... many games all easily 30GB and above...

I got total 6TB of SSD space for installation of games.. 2 x 2TB SK Hynix P41 and 1 x 2TB WD_BLACK D30 (Ext. SSD running at 10Gbps) which I will use for slower games that dun requires large volume of texture loading like 1st person shooter or 3rd person 3D action games. My main OS drive is 2TB WD_BLACK SN850X which I dun install games on it, at least not now that I have the 2 SK Hynix.. previously got to install some of the FPS on it.. now dun need liao.

Waiting for 4TB NVME SSD price to drop to more decent price as external HDD price now also not very attractive... seems like a lot are stucked around 4TB or 5TB....

Enterprise and Datacenter grade SSD with high endurance and power loss protection.

Kingston DC500M/DC600M
Intel D3 4510/4610

affordable and cheap for home lab use.

If above out of your budget, then consider Crucial MX500 consumer grade.

Hi should I get Crucial P5 Plus at $93 or WD SN850X at $115? Both are gen 4 right?

Main priority is compatibility and reliability.

If you want reliable and fast Gen 4 NVME SSD get Samsung 980 Pro.
Currently 1tb is around $109 so sits between both of the SSD you mention pricing.
Challenger should have stock so no need to go down Sim LIm Square.

Just check if they have or not.
