M1 also offers a 100GB SIM-only 5G plan for S$19.90 a month. Both this and the 80GB plan used to be for 4G services but they have now been upgraded to 5G.

The telecom operator declared today that all its plans would be running on 5G from now. New subscribers would automatically get on its 5G plans.

Existing ones can recontract or continue with their no-contract plans but they need to ask for a free 5G SIM card from M1

Stupid question but 5g will have better reception bo?
I am on the 80GB plan (4G), called 1627 and even went down to M1 shop in NEX yesterday. Both told me that i need to pay $5 for 5Go Booster as it does not come as a free upgrade.

the 5G seems to be only free for 6 months. Even if you change bill plans, also free 6months 5G go vas. So it's not like totally free 5G. I checked with CSO just nw

I think authorities need to look into M1 advertisement. It advertisement is like misleading people to think that all their SIM only plan comes with 5G usage without 5G value add on.

M1 keep saying SIM only plan comes with true 5G. Actually what they mean is the SIM only Plan is able to connect their so called 5G Standalone infra instead of non standalone. In order to use the 5G network, user still need to sign up the 5G booster plus with is $5/mth.

what a lousy and low class marketing.

I totally agree with you too. Felt the same when i saw they force the add on at $5/mth when they say all plans come with true 5G now....

5G New Radio Standalone Access (5GNR SA) is True 5G. It uses 5G Core, which means everything from uplink, downlink, and signaling is all on 5G.
5G New Radio Non-Standalone Access (5GNR NSA) is half-ass 5G. It uses EPC, which means that uplink and signaling are using LTE (4G), and only downlink is 5G.

Also, 5Go Plus for legacy plans is free for 3 months, thereafter $5/mth.
5G Access for Bespoke plans is free for 6-12 months depending on the plan, thereafter $1.99/mth until further notice. The usual price of $5/mth applies after.

It's not really misleading, it is just not very clear about pricing. 5G Access is enabled by default when you sign up now, with no way to remove it when checking out for Bespoke plans.

need time for the Starhub M1 collab to take effect.. some places SH has 5G SA but M1 is still stuck on 4G

Quite unlikely that SH has 5G SA but M1 doesn't. You should be able to connect to the SH 5G node with a M1 SIM card

I assume outdoor is similar NR SA coverage.

But indoor (commercial buildings), it might be different.
