Not 10 years but coming to 7 years with an upgrade of HDD to SSD in 2020!

I shall buy a new rig in 2024!

My Alienware Aurora R5 also coming to 7 years. I only added Creative sound card and put in HDD from previous PC. I also need to update driver before the 5Ghz is detected after changing to AX router. Other than that no other issues so I think can use for another few more years.

Anyway, for my 5Ghz connection. It failed again as I think it is really due to the placement of my pc and my bedroom as a whole.

The 5Ghz only connected momentally and then failed. I gave up already and just stict to 2.4Ghz at 72mbps for my pc. Haha.

Okay! Finally gotten my M1 BB worth the $36.90 per month and its 5Ghz is working perfectly on my 7 years old PC.

My $39.00 instant noodle style solution. Lazy to replace my old PCI-E card with a new one!

My PC internet speed test result. The max speed for this adaptor is 866/866.

Previous on 2.4Ghz. It was in the region of 80/40 max using the old build-in Realtek 8821AE PCI-E in which it was very difficult and slow to connect and many times, it failed to connect to the 5Ghz after many self-try lol!

Yes. It increased to $40.++ from $36.90 and I'm stuck with the 2 years old aging router once my contractual period was over back in June 2023.

So, it is really worth to recontract. You get a new Wi-Fi6 router with so much improvement in term of speed, coverage and stability, and $80 voucher and cheaper $36.90 monthly fee.

Depending on when simba BB is available in your area.

May be it is still worth it to break the M1 contract to join simba later since the price difference is almost $17 per month and that the speed given is 1.5Gbps of difference as well! lol...

I just checked with M1 today. For my 500mbps plan, the price will remain the same.

It isn't the case for the 1 and 2Gbps plans..

I renewed 1Gbps contract in August and monthly bill is $38.50 since then. Am wondering if it should be $36.

I had renewed my fibre broadband plan early and got a charge for early renewal.

I thought there would not be a charge for early renewal as long as I am continuing with my current plan.

Is this a new and recent change by M1?

it's been like that in the past. the renewal window opens a few months before end of contract. a renewal charge applies if you renew before, as you experienced.
