Plan - HomePac 10Gbps Fibre broadband - 24 mths

$50.90/mth 24mth 10Gbps Subscription Discount - $13 off for 24 months
$50.90/mth
(U.P $135/mth)
Router
ASUS ZenWiFi BT10 (Pack of 2)
FREE
(U.P $22.09/mth)

Is this a good deal? $50.90/mth for 10GPS and free
ASUS ZenWiFi BT10 (Pack of 2)

Yes, I will say it is a good deal (S$13 OFF from the normal price), but not as good as the 6Gbps plan recontract offer at S$44.90 with a pair of ZenWiFi BT10 (S$15 OFF from the normal price).

But if you like to have faster 10Gbps plan (actually only up to 8.3Gbps due to XGS-PON limitation) than 6Gbps plan, just go ahead.

hi this plan is $32.90 promo price for 6Gbps. +$12 for Asus BT10

= $44.90

Quick question, is there a need to top up $12 extra for BT10?
TP-Link Be805 not good enough for normal daily use?

1. No need. TP-Link Archer BE805 should be fine for typical usage.

2. But if you need a mesh solution or if you like the Asus FW features (like AIprotection Pro) and long term FW support, then ZenWiFi BT10 is better.

3. If you want to sell the routers to offset the subscription price, then ZenWiFi BT10 is also better. The price is subject to change so the following is only for your reference.

6Gbps recontract offer at S$32.90 per month with TP-Link Archer BE805, selling Archer BE805 at S$300, effective price of M1 6Gbps no-frills plan is at S$20.40 per month.

6Gbps recontract offer at S$44.90 per month with two ZenWiFi BT10 units, selling the two ZenWiFi BT10 at S$720 total, effective price of M1 6Gbps no-frills plan is S$14.90 per month.

Or you can sell one unit of ZenWiFi BT10 at S$360 and keep one for own use, effective price of 6Gbps plan +one ZenWiFi BT10 is at S$29.90 per month, slightly cheaper than S$32.90 per month of 6Gbps + Archer BE805.

I will say YES, it is the best among all ISP offers as of now, if you can get it (M1 6Gbps needs to be available in your area).
Speed to price not the best. But with the free 10Gbps ready router, it becomes the best deal so far.

Sounds awesome. Any recommendations on lower priced routers than the Archer BE805 with this M1 6Gbps plan if I decide to sell off the free router?

Btw, anyone using this 6Gbps plan now has real life photos of the ONT and the Archer BE805?

Curious to know how both of them look like beside each other.

Tough to get any cheaper 10G capble WiFi 7 routers at lower price. Cheapest as of now is Starhub issued HB710 (dual 10G ports, no other ports, triband BE18000), at S$192. It is said some Starhub shops are able to sell HB710 without checking the customer's status. Still in that case, just keep the Archer BE805.

But if you want to use it as 2.5Gbps plan, then you can get Archer BE230 from M1 users at below S$100 from Carousell (dual 2.5G ports, dual band WiFi 7 BE3600).

TP-Link Archer BE805 is a big router at 104.3 × 297 × 264.5 mm.
https://www.tp-link.com/sg/home-networking/wifi-router/archer-be805/#specifications

I belive M1 issued XGS-PON ONT is Huawei OptiXstar HN8250Ts-20 (needs confirmation from M1 users).

Not so sure if the following spec is correct or not as it is another model without the "-20" suffix.

XGS-PON ONT/ONR are usually quite big as well, except SIMBA/VQ issued Huawei OptiXstar HN8010Ts-20 XGS-PON ONT, which is relatively small and consumes lower power.

Any recommendation for asus 2.5gbps router at similar price range as archer 230?

If you are M1 Fiber user and had not get their router from them yet, you may purchase a wireless router at Purchase-with-Purchase (PWP) exclusive price.

It will be a one-off payment made upfront during purchase, limited to one purchase per home broadband service.

Basic Router
• ASUS RT-AX3000P: $122
• TP-Link Archer AX72: $122
• TP-Link Archer BE230: $122

WiFi Mesh
• TP-Link Deco XE75: $399
• TP-Link Deco X50: $322
• ASUS ZenWiFi XD6: $333
• ASUS ZenWiFi XD6S: $333
• Linksys Atlas Pro 6: $393
• ASUS ZenWiFi BT10: $504

Performance
• ASUS ROG Rapture GT-AX6000: $383
• TP-Link Archer AX11000: $343
• TP-Link Archer BE805: $360

Gaming
• ASUS TUF Gaming AX5400: $292

Currently I am on 500 Mbps. With ac1200g+ router. So far wifi still okay.

So in my case, I stick to free be805 or upgrade to bt10?
Read some reviews, tp link routers doesn’t seems good. Any BE805 care to give feedback?

Planning to use the router instead of selling them.

Thank you

Most of them are not really good buy, better buy from outside. IMHO the only good buy is ZenWiFi BT10.

Basic Routers --> not worth buying, all below S$100 BNIB from Carousell.
• ASUS RT-AX3000P: $122 --> <S$80
• TP-Link Archer AX72: $122 --> <S$80
• TP-Link Archer BE230: $122 --> < S$100

WiFi Mesh (two pack)
• TP-Link Deco XE75: $399 --> not worth buying. Challenger price is at S$429, may be cheaper elsewhere
• TP-Link Deco X50: $322 --> not worth buying
• ASUS ZenWiFi XD6: $333 --> not worth buying
• ASUS ZenWiFi XD6S: $333 --> not worth buying
• Linksys Atlas Pro 6: $393 --> not worth buying
• ASUS ZenWiFi BT10: $504 --> good buy

Performance
• ASUS ROG Rapture GT-AX6000: $383 --> used to be a good buy, now not so much. Better buy China version of Asus RT-BE86U or RT-BE88U.
• TP-Link Archer AX11000: $343 --> not worth buying
• TP-Link Archer BE805: $360 --> price may soon drop below this one.

Gaming
• ASUS TUF Gaming AX5400: $292 --> not worth buying, better buy China version TX-AX6000 (China version of TUF-AX6000) or China version TUF-BE6500.

If you are willing to top up S$12 and care about Asus FW features and long term FW support, then get the ZenWiFi BT10.

As a single router, I will say Archer BE805 will have better HW spec (much more powerful CPU) and wireless performance (speed and coverage) compare to single unit of Asus ZenWiFi BT10.

But then two units of ZenWiFi BT10 will for sure have better wireless coverage than single unit of Archer BE805, no matter using Ethernet backhaul or wireless backhaul.

Thanks for the confirmation of the M1 XGS-PON ONT model. Please help to confirm if the size is 178 mm x 117 mm x 34 mm as mentioned earlier. Thanks.

M1 GPON ONT is usually Huawei EchoLife HG8240 (same as Starhub Nucleus Connect GPON ONT) with the size of 195 mm x 155 mm x 34 mm.

So indeed the new XGS-PON HN 8250Ts-20 is smaller.

Ok. I shall consider.

Thanks for the suggestions and the detailed information regarding the ONT (y)

The current ONT I have is the Huawei EchoLife HG8240H5. Will they replace it with a new one for the 6Gbps plan?

Huawei EchoLife HG8240H5 is based on GPON technology and it does not support the new XGS-PON based 3Gbps/6Gbs/10Gbps plans.

So you will get the new XGS-PON ONT, Huawei OptiXstar HN8250Ts-20.

GPON
Model: HG8240H5 (newer ONT replaced 2 years ago)
Dimensions: 31mm x 166 mm x 113 mm

XGSPON
Model: EN8250Ts-20
Dimensions: 34 mm x 178 mm x 117 mm

I have the newer GPON ONT so the XGSPON ONT is a bit bigger in my case.
