Huh. Turns out going thru the whole process M1 is indeed keeping the higher bandwidth for recontracts.
The readyness check is a lie...
From business perspective, it just sounds right for them.
First, it is to prevent churn, prevent its customers from jumping to cheaper ISPs (i.e Simba 10gbps @ $29.99 and Starhub 5gbps @ $29.55). Give recontracting customers, especially those out of contract, with high potential of switching out. Like for myself, my contract has ended and I'm just idling and waiting for best deals. Then m1 will make use of this opportunity to grab hold of those out of contract customers and give them the best.
Now come Phase 2, after those recontracting customers taken the bait, now it's time for welcome new customers by giving them the similar promotion. This is like a 2 phase approach.
Most likely, I feel their third phase will be for those whose contract are going to end soon.
