Anyway, contacted them via Chat With Us this morning about the readiness.
took the CSO about 40mins to do some checking and come back to me.

"After further checking, your address is eligible for a 6Gbps recontract, but it is not ready for any new service sign-ups"

Good for recontract, but not for new sign-up?? Strange.....

I got this instead:
Our apologies we are not able to apply the promo from our end as it is eligible for new sign ups only 🙏 If you are looking for a lower subscription fee for 6Gbps package, we would suggest you to sign up a new home broadband service to enjoy the lower rate, and you can reach out to us to terminate your current service after the new service is installed 🙂

Huh. Turns out going thru the whole process M1 is indeed keeping the higher bandwidth for recontracts. ;)

The readyness check is a lie...
From business perspective, it just sounds right for them.

First, it is to prevent churn, prevent its customers from jumping to cheaper ISPs (i.e Simba 10gbps @ $29.99 and Starhub 5gbps @ $29.55). Give recontracting customers, especially those out of contract, with high potential of switching out. Like for myself, my contract has ended and I'm just idling and waiting for best deals. Then m1 will make use of this opportunity to grab hold of those out of contract customers and give them the best.

Now come Phase 2, after those recontracting customers taken the bait, now it's time for welcome new customers by giving them the similar promotion. This is like a 2 phase approach.

Most likely, I feel their third phase will be for those whose contract are going to end soon.

It sounds like those starhub customers experiencing the same, unable to get through $29.55 plan as its for new customers. They have to apply as new, and terminate the old. But after awhile, starhub introduced a plan for recontracting customers at $30.50 if I'm not wrong. So probably, m1 has plans in place, just now rolled out yet

wish they would roll out the plans faster...
I have also been waiting for a good deal for a couple of months, one which bundles the digital line...

my situation is same as yours, which makes me confused. m1 should upfront tell us that since we have the promo offer (6gbps) sent via email, we dont need to bother checking the link if our place is ready for 6gbps.

I suspect all the upgrade to 6gbps can be done at m1 backend, which means all out-of-contract m1 users should already be upgraded to 6gbps. Then after that send us the promo email to entice us to recontract the higher speeds.

The price after 24 months (contract over) become $95/mth? Scary

have to set reminder lor...hopefully you remember...and 3 months before expiry , you are eligible for early re-contract, then downgrade lor...

repeat the cycle.
get promo offer recontract, get free router and sell to offset, downgrade plan..

if not terminate and jump ship..

#datapoint i just recontracted 6gbps and top up $12/mth for Asus BT10.

Sold the router for $770 at carousell for fast deal. if you are patient, you should be able to get $800-820

M1 6Gbps plan is much better than 3Gbps in terms of value, even without the S$15 OFF recontract offer, if you factor in the resale price of the bundled router, say S$300 for Archer BE805. IMHO no point to go with 3Gbps plan at all.

If you upgrade to 3Gbps plan or 6Gbps plan but keep using GT-AX6000.
Wired device: big improvement, from 1Gbps to 2.5Gbps

Wireless: double speed to 1.6Gbps at close range if you have good WiFi 6 or better client which supports 160MHz channel bandwidth on the 5GHz band, less improvement in far range though.

Whether the improvement is useful to your use cases, that is another story.
Actually the promo for the 6gbps right
