Hi guys.. I'm relatively new to this whole configuration of DNS.. May I just ask, how do I know whether I'm using ipv6 or ipv4?

Are there any downsides to switching over to Google's DNS as compared to M1's DNS?

The changes are permanent right? As in.. Do I have to repeat these steps on every computer that is connected to the network or do I just do it on one?

Thank you so much!!

M1 fibre broadband is back to normal. However, I am deeply disappointed with the customer service. The hotline 1627 number could not be reached during the failure.

Whatever thing that down their DNS most probably down their call centers too. Call center can't do jack **** anyway in this scenario.

Hi

I've this free digital line which comes with the 300mbps M1 fiber bb package.

One strange thing is if I dial out to China using the key pad for each number starting 021xxxxxxxxxxxxx it goes through smoothly. However, if I program the numbers in the speedial (fast dial) keys and dial out it'll connect me to Starhub with a voice message on subscribing to Starhub's idd service blah blah and blah. It then fails to connect overseas. My relatives also have difficulty calling me using this line with many attempts before making a connection. They also complained that they are hearing some playback voice messages (I am not sure what since they don't understand English) and hearing about not being able to make a connection.

Anyone has this problem? I do have a hand phone under Starhub plan and another under Singtel plan. Previously I was using a fixed home line under Singtel but has given up and ported my existing number to the current M1 digital line.

Thanks

This is very technical so better let M1 know and they can check from backend.

From what I can tell, since the number port was from Singtel to M1, it could be that for overseas number routing side, it has routed wrongly to singtel instead whereby the number was already "not in use" kind of status, no harm trying to contact M1 support to see what they can do to rectify the issue for you.

As for the speed dial thing, I suspect it could be a phone feature/phone set problem? Maybe you can try setting the speed dial number to 0 and see what happens? Or perhaps you could check your dialing sequence again?

001,013,019 - Singtel
002,021 - M1
008,018 - Starhub

Hi Thanks.

To answer the question of wrong routing. Even if it's routed wrongly it should have gone to Singtel instead of StarHub, right?

Already made some calls.

The cordless phone distributor says this is the first time they are hearing this problem. Will come back to me again on this issue.

M1 says to contact me this evening at home to test the line for I'm working now.

StarHub asked me to reset my modem. Clear out the overseas number in the speedial button, re-key again and retry.

So many things to do. Have to get home to do some homework leow.

for the routing issue I was referring to receiving incoming calls wise. Meaning when it is transferred from china's call routing, and reaches singapore, it detects that it is from Singtel, often call forwarding issue occurs here when the number is forwarded to the current provider, i.e M1 and thus ends the call with a message from Singtel.

Do let me know what's the outcome upon contacting M1 as well xD

Ok, just deleted the contacts of my China relatives from my cordless phone and reset my modem.

Re-key in the China contacts and dial out was smooth without issue using the individual buttons and by selecting the name under contacts.

However, when I assigned the China contacts into the speedial buttons the issue appears again i.e. the voice playback of StarHub message on subscribing to IDD service and blah blah blah.

M1 said they'll investigate and inform me on Saturday.
