You know what the fine should be like? Giving its post-paid customers bill rebates based on a percentage of downtime in the month, multiplied by the post-paid customer's base subscription fee.

Example:
- 6 hours down time
- 720 hours in a 30-day month
Percentage downtime = 0.833%

Singtel's Flexi Lite base subscription = $39.90 monthly

Rebate amount = $0.33

Assuming SingTel has at least 1,000,000 post-paid smartphone subscribers (who use at least the basic smartphone plan), the fine for SingTel (or any telco for that matter) will be at least $330,000 for the 6 hour down time. But of course many people use the higher tier plans as well, so that makes the rebate/fine paid out bigger. And if we include post-paid non-smartphone users, I'm pretty sure the rebate/fine will be more than what they are currently fined for.

And what's more, this makes it equitable for inconvenienced stakeholders during the service disruption.

I don't think this is location dependent.

My phone has been down since 8am this morning till now. First noticed at Vivo ... Alexandra Road all day for work. Back at Kallang now n still down. However my wife and daughter's phones, both M1, both no issue all day.

Right now daughter's phone 4 bar 3G, good speeds too. My phone (same model) No Service.

Pasir ris down

Been trying to load this page and the google page for long time.. Access is very sporadic and keeps dropping. Can't make calls to Cust Svc. Wonder if 999 would work... Guess not.

Agree with heftier fines. M1 has become very money minded, trying to squeeze every last cent from subscribers and trying to shift ppl to higher plans. Nationwide 4g, right! 3G also cannot handle..

All that 3g equipment is fully depreciated by now and just churning money for them.

But the fines would just get translated to higher price plans. :vijayadmin:

One whole day down and no word of compensation is really absurb.
There must be people who could not make a multimillion deal or got their relationship screwed up etc. which M1 cannot compensate but I feel at the very very least, M1 should give customer one day full refund. Switched to M1 from Suckhub (which I have been using for 16 years) after hearing about their fantastic service... Luckily I did not sign up 2 years plan with them. Gonna move over to Sinktel.

I have a very confusing problem. My dad's iphone can only call or sms if I enable 3g options and cellular data. Which is the complete opposite of what M1 suggest that should change to 2g for those affected.

But I can't enable 3g and cellular data as my dad does not have a 3g plan. The last time it was enabled cost him $80+ for 8mb which he didn't even know he used.
