Wait what there's WiFi Calling???? When it's implemented?

Edit: WiFi Calling is enabled via M1 Singapore Carrier Update 32.1. Rolled out today(?)

Erm also, WiFi calling will still deduct from your voice bundle btw

Wi-Fi Calling is when let’s say you are in an area or place with poor cellular coverage but has got Wi-Fi. It allow you to still make phone calls.

May even work overseas without Roaming VAS. Connect to WiFi can already.

However, when I tested M1 WiFi Calling with Airplane mode (simulate no service locally/overseas), only Voice calls can be made. No SMS support yet.

M1 needs to enable IMS for both Voice and SMS to enable the SMS support. Currently only IMS for Voice.

Thanks... even if the airplane mode is on... mins will still be deducted?

Bundled mins will still be deducted. It’s just (normal) cellular calls made via Wi-Fi instead of the usual cellular tower or reception.

Thanks guys.... then it’s dangerous to even use it while roaming... bill shock.

Actually it depends.

Disable Roaming, use airplane mode. Then connect to local WiFi networks, automatically the phone will connect to WiFi Calling

Calls would probably be treated as normal Singapore airtime charges.

But this definitely needs testing though.

Let us know how it goes... dont go all out with the roaming calls. Lol

it doesn't work if the network you're connected to is not M1. wifi calling will only work on home network, meaning m1 sim card on m1 network, regardless of what wifi network you connecting to.

Singtel already has this feature long time ago and i was also testing the hypothesis of it being able to work overseas but sadly, it doesn't work that way.

Starhub got carrier update 32.1 as well. Now have Wifi Calling option in Mobile data.
Once enabled, the text next to wifi icon is "Starhub Wi-Fi".

I guess that's if you connect to another telco overseas. What if you don't?. I just tried with the phone in airplane mode but with the Wi-Fi on. Wi-Fi calling still works.

How did you all get the carrier update in iOS? By right it should be pushed to you as a notification right?

Got it while i was backing up my phone connected to iTunes. I believe if you go to Settings->General->About... the prompt will come.
