You have to connect to another telco while overseas ma. ie celcom, smartone etc... turn on airplane mode and try calling. See if the wifi calling comes on.

I guess that's if you connect to another telco overseas. What if you don't?. I just tried with the phone in airplane mode but with the Wi-Fi on. Wi-Fi calling still works.

Yea singtel had this feature 1st when iphone 1st had wifi calling feature. The other telcos finally caught up.

it doesn't work if the network you're connected to is not M1. wifi calling will only work on home network, meaning m1 sim card on m1 network, regardless of what wifi network you connecting to.

Singtel already has this feature long time ago and i was also testing the hypothesis of it being able to work overseas but sadly, it doesn't work that way.

i wasn't connected to an overseas telco as i didn't have any roaming service subscribed for that number. i tried to turn on wifi and successfully connected to hotel wifi, the wifi calling did not activate itself.

Singtel one only works in SG, does not work from oversea, already checked with Singtel two months ago.

Malaysia's U-Mobile works even from oversea, so good.

Not sure about M1.

So what’s the benefit of this? Better call quality in areas with poor reception?

Those who are on starhub can try too if you have 32.1 carrier update.

Actually could do the other way, make an overseas call from singapore with the airplane mode on connected to wifi.

That's still chargeable under IDD what. The billing system for WiFi calling is the same as normal cellular ones.

The thing is up until now, even the telcos themselves dont know how the billing work. Calls to 1627 are hopeless and they are now aware that wifi calling is even a feature. They claim that cellular is deduct mins while wifi calling is not charged. I am confused....
