of course if the cost is very marginal, then is a question of “why not”.
Yes, why not. It's money well spent!
Whether got use or not.

The upgrade to 10GbE is priced at $135 under the educational discount.$200 on top of a $699 (educational price) m4 mac mini is a lot and gives little advantages. i'd rather spend on a crab meal that makes the family happy. haha.
Subjective no? To some $200 is peanuts. To others its not. And TBH if one was on a super tight budget he’ll probably be looking to buy a recon Mac & not a brand new one, let alone contemplating if he should get 10 gbps adapter.yea provided it is "very marginal"
That’s why I’m not defining it.Subjective no? To some $200 is peanuts. To others its not. And TBH if one was on a super tight budget he’ll probably be looking to buy a recon Mac & not a brand new one, let alone contemplating if he should get 10 gbps adapter.
Feels normal even when updating Mac OSdid anyone run into temperature issue with their mac mini
We got the same machine lol

Actually I am surprised with the pricing of Mac mini with m4 pro. For a few hundreds more, you can get a MBP with similar specs but come with laptop screen, built in keyboard and trackpad. Best of all, it is portable. We got the same machine lol

This is apple tax. If one deviates from the base model, it will add up pretty fast.Actually I am surprised with the pricing of Mac mini with m4 pro. I got the MBP base config which is 1k more expensive than Mac mini m4 (with 512gb ssd) but I need the portability option, and can also just hook up to my monitor to be used in clamshell mode.
In summary, Mac mini m4 with 256gb SSD using education discount is the most value for money. M4 pro Mac mini is not.
For llm? Now gpu so ex ....just curious. What’s ur use cases for this? Video editing?
That's true. I just checked my MBP storage and I have already used up 196GB after installing final cut pro, MS office, Autocad, some messaging apps and storing some of my office documents.Forget about apple tax.
256GB internal storage space is simply pathetic. Apple is pathetic because it sort of like forces people to upgrade to the next level.
Even 512GB storage is still wimpy, inside a machine with a super powerful M4 Pro.
Maybe another 2 generations of the M-chip the prices of storage and memory will come down to acceptable level.
Actually not complicated. That's true. I just checked my MBP storage and I have already used up 196GB after installing final cut pro, MS office, Autocad, some messaging apps and storing some of my office documents.
I shudder to think how those using 256GB storage are going to use properly.

Haha.. for web surfing and general use, who needs 1tb? And this is a desktop mac. Can always plus external ssd to it.Actually not complicated.
Is cause you are using it for productivity like FCP and AC. Not everybody do that right?
