So delivery window is narrowing. I keep checking my order status every day. My delivery date is still 1-8 March.
Checked…the update I got shows that same date range. I was expecting earlier dates!
Narrowing is a good sign but seriously is way too long, 1 month wait time, not like very difficult to manufacture it when other regions aleady got it.So delivery window is narrowing. I keep checking my order status every day. My delivery date is still 1-8 March.
Apple default spec should have once Shopee and Lazada start selling which is the base Mac Mini Pro. The rest is 8GB.lazada doesn’t have the 16gb variant?
That mean yours is the local first wave delivery batch. 03/03/2023 to 06/03/2023 should be second delivery batch and so on.Same as well and narrowing:
Arrives 28/02/2023 - 02/03/2023
Ordered on the first day 30 Jan and originally it was till 07/03/2023.
Yes there is a scaling issue with Mac that leads to fonts not being as sharp. I read that although 4k corrects this issue and is very sharp, the font on the UI becomes too small to be usable on the 27”. That was the reason why I bought the 32” 4k monitor instead. There are quite a few YouTube clips about this. Probably a good idea to give them a test ride in the stores first too.Tried plug in my Retina MacBook Pro into my Dell 27” 2K display before the Mac Mini arrive, the font is small and not as sharp, as MacOS didn’t recognise it as a HiDPI display & resolution and the scaling sucks.
Windows OS and MacOS works differently with 2K display, on Windows the 2K works well and sharp while for MacOS minimum need 4K display for HiDPI to be sharp
Yup, macOS works best on 110DPI or 220DPI. I will try to use my Dell 27” U2719DC natively first which is around 109DPI which is so called “Non-Retina” range and see how is it.
27” 4K monitor “don’t work nicely” with MacOS and scaled down natively to 1080P and things are slightly larger with make it no point of having 4K, now I understand why Apple display are 27” 5K and 32” 6K due to the DPI scaling after reading the article and this YouTuber explanation.

Well I’ve had my LG 31.5” 4k monitor a little over 2 weeks now, and it looks really nice with the output from my iMac…well before my iMac died of a heartbreak recently anyway lol.I thought if it is 4k, it will be rescale at hiDPI mode so it will still looks sharp? Otherwise can use some apps to force hiDPI scaling too. if you have a 4k screen and you choose to use 1440p, it will render in 5k then half it to 1440p. This will result in very good image but consume ~1% of M2 GPU power.
I ordered a prism+ 4k 31.5” monitor, but will only deliver few weeks later, hopefully it will work well.…..

I’ll update you again in a week when my Mac mini (the other woman) arrives.
Yes the dreaded bad zone! Theoretically unless we’re on 24” for 4k, 27” for 5k, or 32” for 6k (monitors sold by Apple) we’re still screwed by the bad zone for retina. Do check out real world reviews of monitors paired with the Mac mini for your usage to see which works better. Hope the non-retina resolution works better than your previous experience!
Let’s see how much the new Samsung Infinity View S9 27” 5K monitor will be when Samsung SG get it launch, that will be natively HiDPI like Apple Studio Display, no scaling required.I thought if it is 4k, it will be rescale at hiDPI mode so it will still looks sharp? Wait for junk610 update on his 4K on Mac mini, what LG model is that?

Go download this app called BetterDisplay and it will fixthe MacOS UI scaling issues. With that app, there's no compelling reason to buy 5K 27 inch over 4K 27 inch already --- you can get any display size + resolution combo.27” 5K Studio Display retails for $2.3K.
27” 5K LG monitor retails for USD1.3k.
Taking into account that the 27” Samsung S9 monitor happens to be a SmartMonitor, I’m inclined to think that the price will hover around $2k when it arrives in Singapore.
Also to correct my previous statement about the 24” being ideal for 4k…just found out that isn‘t true as it also falls into the bad zone as illustrated by the chart. It’s actually 21.5” that’s ideal for 4k. However, it’s interesting to note that Apple sells that same 24” LG 4K monitor on their website:

The monitor I have is the LG 32UN650-W. From now till at least Mar 3, I’ll be having these fingers crossed the whole time that it’ll work well with my Mac Mini
Wish me luck guys…I’ll probably need it![]()
